Journal ArticleDOI
Study of antimutagenic and antioxidant activities of Gallic acid and 1,2,3,4,6-pentagalloylglucose from Pistacia lentiscus: Confirmation by microarray expression profiling
A. Abdelwahed,Ines Bouhlel,Ines Skandrani,Kita Valenti,Malika Kadri,Pascal Guiraud,Régine Steiman,Anne-Marie Mariotte,Kamel Ghedira,François Laporte,Marie-Geneviève Dijoux-Franca,Leila Chekir-Ghedira +11 more
TL;DR: 1,2,3,4,6-Pentagalloylglucose was found to be more effective to scavenge DPPH* radical and protect against lipid peroxidation and induced a decrease in the expression of 11 transcripts related to antioxidant enzymes family and DNA repair.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phytochemistry and biological activities of Phlomis species.
Ilef Limem-Ben Amor,Jihed Boubaker,Mohamed Ben Sgaier,Ines Skandrani,Wissem Bhouri,Aicha Neffati,Soumaya Kilani,Ines Bouhlel,Kamel Ghedira,Leila Chekir-Ghedira +9 more
TL;DR: This review aims to summarize recent research on the phytochemistry and pharmacological properties of the genus Phlomis, with particular emphasis on its ethnobotanical uses.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vitro evaluation of antibacterial, antioxidant, cytotoxic and apoptotic activities of the tubers infusion and extracts of Cyperus rotundus.
Soumaya Kilani,Mohamed Ben Sghaier,Ilef Limem,Ines Bouhlel,Jihed Boubaker,Wissem Bhouri,Ines Skandrani,Aicha Neffatti,Ribai Ben Ammar,Marie G. Dijoux-Franca,Kamel Ghedira,Leila Chekir-Ghedira +11 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that TOF and ethyl acetate extracts of C.rotundus possess antibacterial and antioxidant properties and provoke DNA fragmentation, a sign of induction of apoptosis, which was correlated with chemical composition of the tested extracts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant and free radical-scavenging properties of three flavonoids isolated from the leaves of Rhamnus alaternus L. (Rhamnaceae) : A structure-activity relationship study
Rebai Ben Ammar,Wissem Bhouri,Mohamed Ben Sghaier,Jihed Boubaker,Ines Skandrani,Aicha Neffati,Ines Bouhlel,Soumaya Kilani,Anne-Marie Mariotte,Leila Chekir-Ghedira,Marie-Geneviève Dijoux-Franca,Kamel Ghedira +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, a fractionation of the methanolic and total oligomer flavonoid enriched extracts from Rhamnus alaternus leaves resulted in the isolation of three flavonoids: kaempferol 3-O-isorhamninoside (1), rhamnocitrin-3- O -isoramninosides (2 ) and rhamnetin-3 -O isorhamnsides (3 ), along with apigenin, kaemp-ferol and quercetin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-genotoxic and free-radical scavenging activities of extracts from (Tunisian) Myrtus communis.
Nawel Hayder,A. Abdelwahed,Soumaya Kilani,R. Ben Ammar,Amor Mahmoud,Kamel Ghedira,Leila Chekir-Ghedira +6 more
TL;DR: The methanol and aqueous extracts exhibited the highest level of protection towards the SOS-induced response by the directly genotoxic Nifuroxazide, and an important free-radical scavenging activity towards the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical is suggested.
