Relationships between the characteristics of CaCO3 fouling and the flow velocity in smooth tube

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of flow velocity on the calcium carbonate fouling in smooth tube was investigated and the results indicated that fouling has two aspects regarding the effects on fluid flow as well as thermal performance of the heat exchanger in the induction period: an increased surface roughness, and followed by the decrease in metallic surface area of the test tube as fouling progresses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Secondary flow intensity determines Nusselt number on the fin surfaces of circle tube bank fin heat exchanger

TL;DR: In this article, the heat transfer of circle tube bank fin heat exchanger with VGs or without VGs on the fin surface having ten different configurations (different fin spacing, height and attack angle of VGs) was numerically studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental study on the effects of fin pitches and tube diameters on the heat transfer and fluid flow characteristics of a fin punched with curved delta-winglet vortex generators

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of fin pitches and tube diameters on the air side heat transfer performance of a tube bank fin heat exchanger using curved delta-winglet vortex generators were experimentally investigated, and the counterpart plain fin was selected as a reference for optimizations of fin geometries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal performance of a zig-zag channel formed by two wavy fins mounted with vortex generators

TL;DR: In this article, a combination of wavy fins and vortex generators is proposed to optimize the thermal performance of heat exchangers, and the effects of the longitudinal vortices and attack angle of the vortex generators on thermal performance are numerically studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

The relationship between absolute vorticity flux along the main flow and convection heat transfer in a tube inserting a twisted tape

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between the intensity of the secondary flow and laminar convective heat transfer was studied using a numerical method, and it was shown that the cross-averaged absolute vorticity flux in the main flow direction can reflect the intensity intensity of secondary flow.
