Global land cover mapping at 30 m resolution: A POK-based operational approach

TL;DR: In this article, an approach based on the integration of pixel-and object-based methods with knowledge (POK-based) has been developed to handle the classification process of 10 land cover types, i.e., firstly each class identified in a prioritized sequence and then results are merged together.
Journal ArticleDOI

A spectral gradient difference based approach for land cover change detection

TL;DR: In this article, the spectral gradient difference (SGD) is used to quantitatively describe the spectral shapes and the differences in shape between two spectra, and a chain model is employed to represent the SGD pattern both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-resolution remote sensing mapping of global land water

TL;DR: The overall study on land water in the program of global land cover remote sensing mapping achieves an effective overlay of global multi-spectral image of 30 m resolution for two base years, namely, 2000 and 2010, with the image rectification accuracy meeting the requirements of 1:200000 mapping.
Journal ArticleDOI

A landscape shape index-based sampling approach for land cover accuracy assessment

TL;DR: The spatial heterogeneity with three-level LSIs is characterized and the subsequent sample sizes and their spatial distributions are determined and it is demonstrated that the LSI-based sampling approach obtains more appropriate sample sizes for each region, sufficient sample numbers for rare classes, and optimal sample distributions in the geographical space.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preliminary analysis of spatiotemporal pattern of global land surface water

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the spatial distribution pattern and temporal fluctuation of land surface water under scale-levels of global, latitude and longitude, continents, and climate zones, and calculated the indices such as water area, water ration and coefficient of spatial variation for further analysis.
