TL;DR: In this article, a new low-background fully automated high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometer MCA_Rad has been developed, which can measure in less than one hour a typical NORM sample enriched in U and Th with some hundreds of Bq kg−1, with an overall uncertainty less than 5%.

TL;DR: It is conjectured that this alternative production route will not replace the current supply chain based on the distribution of 99Mo/99mTc generators, but could become a convenient emergency source of Tc-99m only for in-house hospitals equipped with a conventional, low-energy, medical cyclotron.
