Journal ArticleDOI
Significant pharmacokinetic interactions between artemether/lumefantrine and efavirenz or nevirapine in HIV-infected Ugandan adults.
Pauline Byakika-Kibwika,Pauline Byakika-Kibwika,Mohammed Lamorde,Mohammed Lamorde,Jonathan Mayito,Lillian Nabukeera,Rhoda Namakula,Harriet Mayanja-Kizza,Elly Katabira,Muhammad Ntale,Nadine Pakker,Máirín Ryan,Warunee Hanpithakpong,Joel Tarning,Joel Tarning,Niklas Lindegardh,Niklas Lindegardh,Peter J. de Vries,Saye Khoo,David Back,Concepta Merry,Concepta Merry +21 more
TL;DR: These drug interactions may increase the risk of malaria treatment failure and development of resistance to artemether/lumefantrine and nevirapine, and clinical data from population pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic trials evaluating the impact of these drug interactions are urgently needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of intravenous artesunate during severe malaria treatment in Ugandan adults
Pauline Byakika-Kibwika,Pauline Byakika-Kibwika,Mohammed Lamorde,Mohammed Lamorde,Jonathan Mayito,Lillian Nabukeera,Harriet Mayanja-Kizza,Elly Katabira,Warunee Hanpithakpong,Celestino Obua,Nadine Pakker,Niklas Lindegardh,Niklas Lindegardh,Joel Tarning,Joel Tarning,Peter J. de Vries,Concepta Merry,Concepta Merry +17 more
TL;DR: Plasma concentrations of artesunate and dihydroartemisinin were achieved rapidly with rapid and complete symptom resolution and parasite clearance with no adverse events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lower artemether, dihydroartemisinin and lumefantrine concentrations during rifampicin-based tuberculosis treatment.
Mohammed Lamorde,Pauline Byakika-Kibwika,Jonathan Mayito,Lillian Nabukeera,Máirín Ryan,Warunee Hanpithakpong,Gilbert Lefèvre,David Back,Saye Khoo,Concepta Merry +9 more
TL;DR: Pharmacokinetic parameters for artemether-lumefantrine were markedly lower during rifampicin-based tuberculosis treatment, and should not be co-administered with rifampsicin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Steady-state pharmacokinetics of lopinavir plus ritonavir when administered under different meal conditions in HIV-infected Ugandan adults.
Mohammed Lamorde,Pauline Byakika-Kibwika,Marta Boffito,Lillian Nabukeera,Jonathan Mayito,Jasper Ogwal-Okeng,John Tjia,David Back,Saye Khoo,Máirín Ryan,Concepta Merry +10 more
TL;DR: Compared with the fasted state, a high fat meal reduced lopinavir and ritonavir area under the curve by 14% and 29%, respectively, and with a moderate fat meal, areaunder the curve for both drugs was similar to the fasting state.
