The Cadomian Orogen: Neoproterozoic to Early Cambrian crustal growth and orogenic zoning along the periphery of the West African Craton—Constraints from U-Pb zircon ages and Hf isotopes (Schwarzburg Antiform, Germany)
TL;DR: In this paper, the Cadomian Orogen is inferred as a continental magmatic arc during the Neoproterozoic developed on a stretched Eoarchean to Hadean crust.
Journal ArticleDOI
New U-Pb dates show a Paleogene origin for the modern Asian biodiversity hot spots
Ulf Linnemann,Tao Su,L. Kunzmann,Robert A. Spicer,Robert A. Spicer,Wen-Na Ding,Wen-Na Ding,Teresa E.V. Spicer,Johannes Zieger,Mandy Hofmann,K. Moraweck,Andreas Gärtner,Axel Gerdes,Linda Marko,Shi-Tao Zhang,Shu-Feng Li,He Tang,He Tang,Jian Huang,Andreas Mulch,Volker Mosbrugger,Zhe-Kun Zhou +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the first unequivocal early Oligocene age (33-32 Ma) of a section in the Lühe Basin (25.141627°N, 101.373840°E, 1890 m above mean sea level), central Yunnan, based on U-Pb zircon dates of unreworked volcanic ash layers in a predominantly lacustrine succession hosting abundant plant and animal fossils.
Journal ArticleDOI
A ~565 Ma old glaciation in the Ediacaran of peri-Gondwanan West Africa
Ulf Linnemann,Agustín Pedro Pieren Pidal,Mandy Hofmann,Kerstin Drost,Cecilio Quesada,Axel Gerdes,Linda Marko,Andreas Gärtner,Johannes Zieger,Jens Ulrich,Rita Krause,Patricia Vickers-Rich,Jana Horak +12 more
TL;DR: Weesenstein and Orellana as mentioned in this paper proposed the Weesenstein-Orellana glaciation for this new Ediacaran glacial event, named after the most relevant regions of exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
The four Neoproterozoic glaciations of southern Namibia and their detrital zircon record: The fingerprints of four crustal growth events during two supercontinent cycles
Mandy Hofmann,Ulf Linnemann,Karl Heinz Hoffmann,Gerard J.B. Germs,Axel Gerdes,Axel Gerdes,Linda Marko,Katja Eckelmann,Andreas Gärtner,Rita Krause +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented more than 1050 single zircon grain U-Pb analyses of different diamictite horizons from southern Namibia and discussed their correlation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cadomian S-type granites as basement rocks of the Variscan belt (Massif Central, France): Implications for the crustal evolution of the north Gondwana margin
Simon Couzinié,Simon Couzinié,Oscar Laurent,Marc Poujol,Michaël Mintrone,Cyril Chelle-Michou,Jean-François Moyen,Pierre Bouilhol,Adrien Vezinet,Adrien Vezinet,Linda Marko +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Velay Orthogneiss Formation (VOF) is used as a record of the pre-Variscan magmatic history and provides critical information on the crustal evolution of the northern Gondwana margin.
