Progress in research on hybrid metal matrix composites

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the recent developments in the fabrication techniques and properties characterization of Al, Mg, Ti, Cu, Fe/steel and Ni matrix composites containing hybrid reinforcements is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microstructure and mechanical properties of wire arc additively manufactured AZ80M magnesium alloy

TL;DR: In this paper, the microstructure and mechanical properties of the WAAM AZ80M were tested and studied, and the results showed that the material was mainly composed of α-Mg, β-mg17Al12 and Al2Y phases and had obvious inhomogeneous characteristics along the deposition direction.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Effects of Carbon Nanotubes on the Mechanical and Wear Properties of AZ31 Alloy.

TL;DR: The results revealed that the nanocomposites showed a slightly smaller grain size compared with the matrix and uniform distribution that CNTs could achieve at proper content, and could weaken basal plane texture, but the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the composites were enhanced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formability, microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of wire arc additively manufactured AZ80M magnesium alloy using gas tungsten arc welding

TL;DR: In this article, the formability, thermal cycles, microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of the wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) Alloy Alloy Alloy were investigated, and the results showed that there was significant difference in the temperature variation and the geometries between the original several layers and the subsequent deposited layers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Y addition on the aging hardening behavior and precipitation evolution of extruded Mg-Al-Zn alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the aging behavior and microstructure evolution of extruded Mg-Al-Zn-Y alloys were investigated in aspects of yttrium (Y) content (0.2-0.8 lwt), holding time ( 0.5-156 h), and initial states (as-extruded, solution treated).
