Journal ArticleDOI
Visualizing individual nitrogen dopants in monolayer graphene.
Liuyan Zhao,Rui He,Kwang Taeg Rim,Theanne Schiros,Keun Soo Kim,Keun Soo Kim,Hui Zhou,Christopher Gutierrez,Sreekumar Chockalingam,C. Arguello,Lucia Palova,Dennis Nordlund,Mark S. Hybertsen,David R. Reichman,Tony F. Heinz,Philip Kim,Aron Pinczuk,George W. Flynn,Abhay Pasupathy +18 more
TL;DR: Findings show that chemical doping is a promising route to achieving high-quality graphene films with a large carrier concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Connecting dopant bond type with electronic structure in N-doped graphene.
Theanne Schiros,Dennis Nordlund,Lucia Palova,Deborah Prezzi,Liuyan Zhao,Keun Soo Kim,Ulrich Wurstbauer,Christopher Gutierrez,Dean M. DeLongchamp,Cherno Jaye,Daniel A. Fischer,Hirohito Ogasawara,Lars G. M. Pettersson,David R. Reichman,Philip Kim,Mark S. Hybertsen,Abhay Pasupathy +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that different N-bond types, including graphitic, pyridinic, and nitrilic, can exist in a single, dilutely N-doped graphene sheet, indicating that control over the dopant bond type is a crucial requirement in advancing graphene electronics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of interlayer and intralayer magnetism in three atomically thin chromium trihalides.
Hyun Ho Kim,Bowen Yang,Siwen Li,Shengwei Jiang,Chenhao Jin,Zui Tao,George Nichols,Francois Sfigakis,Shazhou Zhong,Chenghe Li,Shangjie Tian,David G. Cory,Guo-Xing Miao,Jie Shan,Kin Fai Mak,Hechang Lei,Kai Sun,Liuyan Zhao,Adam W. Tsen +18 more
TL;DR: The results elucidate both the interlayer coupling and intralayer spin Hamiltonian for all three materials, and further demonstrate that ferromagnetism can be stabilized in monolayer CrBr3 and bilayer CrCl3 without strong anisotropy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of copper crystal surface on the CVD growth of large area monolayer graphene
Liuyan Zhao,Kwang Taeg Rim,Hui Zhou,Rui He,Tony F. Heinz,A. Pinczuk,George W. Flynn,Abhay Pasupathy +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the surface structure of copper single crystals on the growth of large area monolayer graphene by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) in ultra-high vacuum (UHV).
Journal ArticleDOI
Local atomic and electronic structure of boron chemical doping in monolayer graphene.
Liuyan Zhao,Mark Levendorf,Scott J. Goncher,Theanne Schiros,Lucia Palova,Amir Zabet-Khosousi,Kwang Taeg Rim,Christopher Gutierrez,Dennis Nordlund,Cherno Jaye,Mark S. Hybertsen,David R. Reichman,George W. Flynn,Jiwoong Park,Abhay Pasupathy +14 more
TL;DR: Density functional theory calculations indicate that boron dopants interact strongly with the underlying copper substrate while nitrogen dopants do not, and the distribution of dopants is observed to be completely random in the case of bor on, while nitrogen displays strong sublattice clustering.
