TL;DR: The first evaluation iterations have shown the potential of this methodology in terms of adaptation of the robot to the interactant and the resulting influences on engagement, setting the foundation for an ongoing research program that seeks to develop technologies for social robot companions.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Towards an Affect Space for robots to display emotional body language
TL;DR: The experiment reported in this paper investigated the effect of varying a robot's head position on the interpretation, Valence, Arousal and Stance of emotional key poses and found that participants were better than chance level in interpreting the key poses.
Journal ArticleDOI
2005 Special Issue: Emotion understanding from the perspective of autonomous robots research
TL;DR: Some of the contributions that modeling emotions in autonomous robots can make towards understanding human emotions-'as sited in the brain' and as used in the authors' interactions with the environment-and emotions in general are discussed.
I Show You How I like You : Can You Read it in My Face?
Lola Cañamero,Jakob Fredslund +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a LEGO robot displays different emo-tional expressions in response to physical stimulation for the purpose of social interaction with humans, drawing inspiration from theories of human basic emotions.
Journal ArticleDOI
I show you how I like you - can you read it in my face? [robotics]
Lola Cañamero,J. Fredslund +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a LEGO robot displays different emotional expressions in response to physical stimulation for the purpose of social interaction with humans, drawing inspiration from theories of human basic emotions, implemented several prototypical expressions in the robot's caricatured face and conducted experiments to assess the recognizability of these expressions.
