Journal ArticleDOI

The mu1, mu2, delta, kappa opioid receptor binding profiles of methadone stereoisomers and morphine.

TL;DR: It is suggested that S-methadone does not essentially contribute to opioid effect of racemic methadone, as expected, and has a receptor binding profile which resembles that of morphine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recommended use of morphine in neonates, infants and children based on a literature review: Part 1—Pharmacokinetics

TL;DR: The English language literature has been reviewed in order to evaluate the present knowledge on morphine's metabolism and pharmacokinetics in children, and volume of distribution, seems to be regardless of age, while half‐life and clearance were found to be related to age.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recommended use of morphine in neonates, infants and children based on a literature review: Part 2–Clinical use

TL;DR: It can be considered safe to administer morphine to neonates, infants or children, but treatment must be adjusted according to analgesic effect and incidence of side effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparative study of oxycodone and morphine in a multi-modal, tissue-differentiated experimental pain model.

TL;DR: The multi‐modal and tissue‐differentiated pain model could link findings from animal experiments to clinical findings and thus oxycodone may be a useful alternative to morphine in the treatment of visceral pain syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Opioid analgesics as noncompetitive N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) antagonists.

TL;DR: It is concluded that although the finding that some opioids are weak noncompetitive NMDA receptor antagonists in vitro has created much attention among clinicians, no clinical studies have been conducted to evaluate the applicability of these compounds in the treatment of neuropathic pain conditions.
