Journal ArticleDOI

Puerto Morelos Coral Reefs, Their Current State and Classification by a Scoring System

TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a study in eight sites of the Arrecife de Puerto Morelos National Park (APMNP) applying a coral reef assessment method based on biological indicators of both the benthos and the fish communities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differences in the progression rate of SCTLD in Pseudodiploria strigosa are related to colony size and morphology

TL;DR: A significant positive effect of colony size on rates of tissue loss disease is found, as well as evidence suggesting that elongated and vertically compressed colonies have a greater probability of experiencing higher tissue-loss rates than colonies with more spherical shapes.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of geomorphic zonation in long-term changes in coral-community structure on a Caribbean fringing reef.

TL;DR: The changing ecology of communities in a coral reef seascape within the context of its geomorphic zonation is documented, showing that in 35 years the reef-front zone was transformed from a complex coral assemblage with a three-dimensional structure, to a size-homogenized and flattened one that is quasi indistinguishable from the adjacent non-accretional coral-ground zone.
Book ChapterDOI

Ecological Modeling and Conservation on the Coasts of Mexico

TL;DR: A review and synthesis of the most recent and relevant studies conducted, with particular emphasis on coral reefs, is presented in this article, where the authors review and synthesize the most relevant studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fish diversity divergence between tropical eastern pacific and tropical western Atlantic coral reefs

TL;DR: A comparison of fish diversity was carried out among 45 sites within four localities in the Mexican Tropical Western Atlantic (TWA) and Tropical Eastern Pacific (TEP) regions as discussed by the authors.
