Journal ArticleDOI
Integrated characterization and risk management of marine sediments: The case study of the industrialized Bagnoli area (Naples, Italy).
Lorenzo Morroni,Giuseppe d’Errico,Marco Sacchi,Flavia Molisso,Giovanna Armiento,Salvatore Chiavarini,Juri Rimauro,Marco Guida,Antonietta Siciliano,Mariateresa Ceparano,Francesco Aliberti,Elisabetta Tosti,Alessandra Gallo,Giovanni Libralato,Francesco Paolo Patti,Stefania Gorbi,Daniele Fattorini,Alessandro Nardi,Marta Di Carlo,Marica Mezzelani,Maura Benedetti,David Pellegrini,Luigi Musco,Roberto Danovaro,Roberto Danovaro,Antonio Dell'Anno,Francesco Regoli +26 more
TL;DR: The results of this study confirm the need of combining chemical and biological data, the quantitative characterization of various typologies of hazard and the importance of assessing an integrated environmental WOE risk, to orientate specific and scientifically-supported management options in industrialized areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a new integrative toxicity index based on an improvement of the sea urchin embryo toxicity test.
TL;DR: A new integrative toxicity index has been developed in this study based on the analysis of two developmental stages, at 24 and 48h post-fertilization, and the differentiation between development delays and germ layers impairments, supporting its utility in practical applications such as the sediments classification in harbor areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) system combining the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus, as primary species, and the sea cucumber Holothuria tubulosa as extractive species
Luca Grosso,Arnold Rakaj,Alessandra Fianchini,Lorenzo Morroni,Stefano Cataudella,Michele Scardi +5 more
TL;DR: The present study suggested the existence of substantial benefits of an integrated aquaculture between these echinoderm species, that could promote the environmental and economic sustainability of their production on a large-scale and reduce the total waste.
Journal ArticleDOI
A meta‐analysis of fish behavioural reaction to underwater human presence
Diogo S. M. Samia,Eduardo Bessa,Daniel T. Blumstein,José de Anchieta C. C. Nunes,Ernesto Azzurro,Lorenzo Morroni,Valerio Sbragaglia,Fraser A. Januchowski-Hartley,Benjamin Geffroy +8 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive meta‐analysis evaluating FID of fish in response to human presence found that individual fish size was strongly and positively correlated with FID and the most important moderator that explained the variance in individual body size‐FID relationship was shoaling behaviour.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reversibility of trace metals effects on sea urchin embryonic development
TL;DR: In this paper, the Integrative Toxicity Index (ITI) was used to investigate the reversibility of the effects induced by various trace metals (cadmium, copper, lead and zinc) on sea urchin development.
