Journal ArticleDOI
Alternative mutations of BRAF , RET and NTRK1 are associated with similar but distinct gene expression patterns in papillary thyroid cancer
Milo Frattini,Cristina Ferrario,Paola Bressan,Debora Balestra,Loris De Cecco,Piera Mondellini,Italia Bongarzone,Paola Collini,Manuela Gariboldi,Silvana Pilotti,Marco A. Pierotti,Angela Greco +11 more
TL;DR: Gene expression profiling of a subset of 31 tumors performed using cDNA microarray chips showed no strong differences in global gene expression among the different cases, however, a supervised analysis of the obtained data identified a portion of genes differentially expressed in tumors carrying BRAF mutation or RTK rearrangement.
Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNA Signature of Malignant Mesothelioma with Potential Diagnostic and Prognostic Implications
Sara Busacca,Serena Germano,Loris De Cecco,Maurizio Rinaldi,Federico Comoglio,Francesco Favero,Bruno Murer,Luciano Mutti,Marco A. Pierotti,Giovanni Gaudino +9 more
TL;DR: A cross-evaluation of miRNA expression in mesothelioma and human mesothelial cells is reported, for the first time, and the reduced expression of two miRNAs correlated with better survival of patients with sarcomatoid subtype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Limits of predictive models using microarray data for breast cancer clinical treatment outcome.
James F. Reid,Lara Lusa,Loris De Cecco,Danila Coradini,Silvia Veneroni,Maria Grazia Daidone,Manuela Gariboldi,Marco A. Pierotti +7 more
TL;DR: Estimates of classification accuracies applied to two independent microarray datasets highlighted the poor performance of treatment-response predictive models that can be achieved with the sample sizes of patients and informative genes to date.
Journal ArticleDOI
Head and neck cancer subtypes with biological and clinical relevance: Meta-analysis of gene-expression data
Loris De Cecco,Monica Nicolau,Marco Giannoccaro,Maria Grazia Daidone,Paolo Bossi,Laura D. Locati,Lisa Licitra,Silvana Canevari +7 more
TL;DR: A robust molecularly defined subtype classification in HNSCC is reported that can improve patient selection and pave the way to the development of appropriate therapeutic strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Augmentation of Response to Chemotherapy by microRNA-506 Through Regulation of RAD51 in Serous Ovarian Cancers
Guoyan Liu,Da Yang,Rajesha Rupaimoole,Chad V. Pecot,Yan Sun,Lingegowda S. Mangala,Xia Li,Ping Ji,David Cogdell,Limei Hu,Yingmei Wang,Cristian Rodriguez-Aguayo,Gabriel Lopez-Berestein,Ilya Shmulevich,Loris De Cecco,Kexin Chen,Delia Mezzanzanica,Fengxia Xue,Anil K. Sood,Wei Zhang +19 more
TL;DR: MiR-506 is a robust clinical marker for chemotherapy response and survival in serous ovarian cancers and has important therapeutic value in sensitizing cancer cells to chemotherapy.
