TL;DR: In this paper, a full scale prototype of the precision tracking chambers (Monitored Drift Tubes, MDT) for the muon spectrometer of the Atlas Experiment at the LHC collider is presented.
Abstract: We have built a full scale prototype of the precision tracking chambers (Monitored Drift Tubes, MDT) for the muon spectrometer of the Atlas Experiment at the LHC collider. This article describes in detail the procedures used in constructing the drift tubes and in assembling the chamber. It presents data showing that the required mechanical precision has been achieved as well as test beam results displaying the over all chamber performance. The article presents data demonstrating the derivation of the space-time relation of the drift tubes by the autocalibration procedure using real data from the tracks crossing the chamber. Autocalibration is the procedure which must be used during run time.

TL;DR: In this paper, the KLOE detector, mainly designed to measure the R ( ϵ′ ϵ ) parameter of CP violation in KL decay to an absolute precision of ≈ 10−4, is completed and will start data taking by spring 1999 at the e+ e− Φ-factory DAΦNE.
Abstract: The KLOE detector, mainly designed to measure the R ( ϵ′ ϵ ) parameter of CP violation in KL decay to an absolute precision of ≈ 10−4, is completed and will start data taking by spring 1999 at the e+ e− Φ-factory DAΦNE in Frascati. The primary K-meson physics and the experimental requirements at DAΦNE are summarized. The design strategies, the salient features and the main physics performances of all components of the experimental apparatus are reviewed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have studied the differential energy loss d E /d x in several mixtures, including He-isobutane and He-ethane, using a drift chamber with a 3 cm cell.
Abstract: Helium based gas mixtures are particularly interesting since they have a good tracking resolution because of the reduced multiple scattering. We have studied the differential energy loss d E /d x in several mixtures, He–isobutane and He–ethane. We present results from measurements performed with electrons, pions and protons in the momentum range between 1 and 5 GeV/ c obtained in a prototype drift chamber with a 3 cm cell. The results show that helium performs well in measuring energy losses for charged particles.
