Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial and temporal variability of personal environmental exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic fields in children in Europe.
Laura Ellen Birks,Benjamin Struchen,Marloes Eeftens,Luuk van Wel,Anke Huss,Peter Gajšek,Leeka Kheifets,Mara Gallastegi,Albert Dalmau-Bueno,Marisa Estarlich,Mariana F. Fernandez,Inger Kristine Meder,Amparo Ferrero,Ana Jiménez-Zabala,Maties Torrent,Tanja G. M. Vrijkotte,Elisabeth Cardis,Jørn Olsen,Blaž Valič,Roel Vermeulen,Martine Vrijheid,Martin Röösli,Mònica Guxens +22 more
TL;DR: The largest contributors to total personal environmental RF-EMF exposure were downlink and broadcast, and these exposures showed high repeatability, and urbanicity and mobile phone use were the most important determinants of total exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shedding Some Light in the Dark-A Comparison of Personal Measurements with Satellite-Based Estimates of Exposure to Light at Night among Children in the Netherlands
Anke Huss,Luuk van Wel,Lily Bogaards,Tanja G. M. Vrijkotte,Luzian Wolf,Gerard Hoek,Roel Vermeulen +6 more
TL;DR: Outdoor satellite-assessed outdoor LAN exposure levels were correlated with urban environmental exposures, but they were not a good proxy for indoor evening or nighttime personal exposure as measured in the study population of 12-y-old children.
Journal ArticleDOI
Personal exposure to radio-frequency electromagnetic fields in Europe: Is there a generation gap?
Marloes Eeftens,Benjamin Struchen,Laura Ellen Birks,Elisabeth Cardis,Marisa Estarlich,Mariana F. Fernández,Peter Gajšek,Mara Gallastegi,Anke Huss,Leeka Kheifets,Inger Kristine Meder,Jørn Olsen,Maties Torrent,Tomaž Trček,Blaž Valič,Roel Vermeulen,Martine Vrijheid,Luuk van Wel,Mònica Guxens,Martin Röösli +19 more
TL;DR: The generation gap between children and their parents is mostly evident in uplink exposure, due to more and longer uplink and cordless phone calls among parents, and their tendency to spend slightly more time in activities with higher environmental RF-EMF exposure, such as travel.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aggregate dermal exposure to cyclic siloxanes in personal care products : implications for risk assessment
Jacqueline W.H. Biesterbos,Gwendolyn Beckmann,Luuk van Wel,Rob B. M. Anzion,Natalie von Goetz,Tatsiana Dudzina,Nel Roeleveld,Ad M.J. Ragas,Frans G. M. Russel,Paul T.J. Scheepers +9 more
TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that dermal absorption of D4 and D5 contributes only marginally to internal exposure following dermal applications, and inhalation is the primary route of entry for these compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical Characterization of the Indoor Air Quality of a University Hospital: Penetration of Outdoor Air Pollutants
TL;DR: No indications were found that support a significant contribution of known local sources such as fuels or combustion engines to any of the IAQ parameters measured in this study, and Chemical IAQ was primarily driven by known indoor sources and activities.
