IL-23–responsive innate lymphoid cells are increased in inflammatory bowel disease
Alessandra Geremia,Carolina V. Arancibia-Cárcamo,M Fleming,Nigel A. Rust,Baljit Singh,Neil Mortensen,Simon Travis,Fiona Powrie +7 more
TL;DR: Increased numbers of innate lymphoid cells in patients with inflammatory bowel disease are found to be associated with better prognosis and decreased likelihood of long-term disease progression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Th17 cells expressing KIR3DL2+ and responsive to HLA-B27 homodimers are increased in ankylosing spondylitis.
Paul Bowness,A Ridley,Jacqueline Shaw,A T Chan,A T Chan,Isabel Wong-Baeza,M Fleming,Fraser Cummings,Andrew J. McMichael,Simon Kollnberger +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that B272-expressing APCs stimulate the survival, proliferation, and IL-17 production of KIR3DL2+ CD4 T cells, which link HLA-B27 with IL- 17 production and suggest new therapeutic strategies in ankylosing spondylitis/SpA.
Journal ArticleDOI
The HMB-PP producing capacity of the causative pathogen and local gamma delta T cell numbers predict clinical outcome from bacterial peritonitis
A Ridley,Simon Kollnberger,Jacqueline Shaw,I Wong,A T Chan,Fraser Cummings,M Fleming,Paul Bowness +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors characterized the local immune responses in acute peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis by multi-color flow cytometry and multiplex ELISA and validated the clinical relevance for patient and technique survival in independent patient cohorts comprising a total of 2307 (ANZDATA Registry, Australia) and 372 PD patients (University Hospital of North Staffordshire, UK), respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
The patient with rectal bleeding
M Fleming,Neil Mortensen +1 more
TL;DR: Rectal bleeding is a very common symptom, with the majority of cases being caused by benign conditions, however, a small but significant percentage of those over 40 will have an underlying colorectal cancer.
