Journal ArticleDOI
Foliar application of silicon improves stem strength under low light stress by regulating lignin biosynthesis genes in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.).
Sajad Hussain,Shu-xian Li,M. Mumtaz,Iram Shafiq,Nasir Iqbal,Marian Brestic,Muhammad Shoaib,Qin Sisi,Wang Li,Xu Mei,Chen Bing,Marek Zivcak,Anshu Rastogi,Milan Skalicky,Vaclav Hejnak,Liu Wei-guo,Yang Wen-yu +16 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that Si affects the composition of plant cell walls components, mostly by altering linkages of non-cellulosic polymers and lignin, and the modifications of the cell wall network through Si application could be a useful strategy to reduce shading stress in intercropping.
Journal ArticleDOI
Crop photosynthetic response to light quality and light intensity
Iram Shafiq,Sajad Hussain,Muhammad Ali Raza,Nasir Iqbal,Muhammad Ahsan Asghar,Ali Raza,Yuanfang Fan,M. Mumtaz,Muhammad Shoaib,Muhammad Ansar,Abdul Manaf,Wenyu Yang,Feng Yang +12 more
TL;DR: This review is an effort to briefly summarize the available information on the effects of light components on various plant parameters such as stem and leaf morphology and anatomy, stomatal development, photosynthetic apparatus, pigment composition, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, antioxidants, and hormone production.
Journal ArticleDOI
Foliar application of silicon improves growth of soybean by enhancing carbon metabolism under shading conditions.
Sajad Hussain,M. Mumtaz,Sumaira Manzoor,Shu-xian Li,Irshan Ahmed,Milan Skalicky,Marian Brestic,Anshu Rastogi,Zaid Ulhassan,Iram Shafiq,Suleyman I. Allakhverdiev,Haris Khurshid,Wenyu Yang,Weiguo Liu +13 more
TL;DR: F foliar application of Si under normal light and shading significantly improved the net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, and decreased intercellular carbon dioxide concentration under both conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency dependent dielectric properties of Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3−yZnyO10−δ (y=0, 1.0, 1.5,2.0, 2.5) superconductors
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of Zn atoms and specifically their role in modifying dielectric properties, such as dielectrics loss (tan δ) and ac-conductivity (σac), were investigated in the normal state of the samples at room temperature and in their superconducting state.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, sucrose and monosaccharide carbohydrates on soybean physical stem strength and yield in intercropping
Sajad Hussain,Ting Liu,Nasir Iqbal,Marian Brestic,Ting Pang,M. Mumtaz,Iram Shafiq,Shuxian Li,Li Wang,Yang Gao,Aaqil Khan,Irshan Ahmad,Suleyman I. Allakhverdiev,Weiguo Liu,Wenyu Yang +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, four different soybean genotypes (B3, B15, B23, and B24) having different agronomic characteristics were cultivated in intercropping and monocropping planting patterns.
