Review of savonius wind turbine design and performance

TL;DR: In this paper, the Savonius rotor was used to improve the performance of a wind turbine by optimizing the effects of different geometric parameters and by developing new design, which achieved an improvement in the coefficient of performance of 27.3% compared to the conventional rotor.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel blade design for Savonius wind turbine based on polynomial bezier curves for aerodynamic performance enhancement

TL;DR: A study into the utilization of Bézier curves and transient computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to optimize the conventional Savonius blade design and proves the effectiveness of the innovative geometry by improved pressure and velocity distributions around blades of novel design.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical Investigation of a New Modified Savonius Wind Turbines

TL;DR: In this paper , a new blade shape of Savonius wind turbine is investigated numerically by using the CFD method, by using transient conditions and set k omega turbulence model, the new blade has different concave and convex shape, which is a combination of the conventional and the elliptical blade.
