Pediatric Outcome after Maternal Cancer Diagnosed during Pregnancy
Frédéric Amant,Tineke Vandenbroucke,Magali Verheecke,Monica Fumagalli,Michael J. Halaska,Ingrid A. Boere,Sileny Han,Mina Mhallem Gziri,Fedro A. Peccatori,Lukas Rob,Christianne A. R. Lok,Petronella O. Witteveen,Jens-Uwe Voigt,Gunnar Naulaers,Lore Vallaeys,Frank Van den Heuvel,Lieven Lagae,Luc Mertens,Laurence Claes,Kristel Van Calsteren +19 more
TL;DR: Prenatal exposure to maternal cancer with or without treatment did not impair the cognitive, cardiac, or general development of children in early childhood andPrematurity was correlated with a worse cognitive outcome, but this effect was independent of cancer treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oncological management and obstetric and neonatal outcomes for women diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy: a 20-year international cohort study of 1170 patients
Jorine de Haan,Jorine de Haan,Magali Verheecke,Kristel Van Calsteren,Ben Van Calster,Roman G. Shmakov,Mina Mhallem Gziri,Michael J. Halaska,Robert Fruscio,Christianne A.R. Lok,Ingrid A. Boere,Paolo Zola,Petronella B. Ottevanger,Christianne J.M. de Groot,Fedro A. Peccatori,Karina Dahl Steffensen,Elyce Cardonick,Evgeniya Polushkina,Lukas Rob,Lorenzo Ceppi,Gennady T. Sukhikh,Sileny Han,Frédéric Amant +22 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that babies exposed to antenatal chemotherapy might be more likely to develop complications, specifically small for gestational age and NICU admission, than babies not exposed, and recommend involving hospitals with obstetric high-care units in the management of these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Presymptomatic Identification of Cancers in Pregnant Women During Noninvasive Prenatal Testing
Frédéric Amant,Magali Verheecke,Iwona Wlodarska,Luc Dehaspe,Paul Brady,Nathalie Brison,Kris Van Den Bogaert,Daan Dierickx,Vincent Vandecaveye,Thomas Tousseyn,Philippe Moerman,Adriaan Vanderstichele,Ignace Vergote,Patrick Neven,Patrick Berteloot,Katrien Putseys,Lode Danneels,Peter Vandenberghe,Eric Legius,Joris Vermeesch +19 more
TL;DR: It is shown that plasma DNA profiling allows for presymptomatic detection of tumors in pregnant women undergoing routine NIPT and that maternal plasma cell-free DNA sequencing for noninvasive prenatal testing also may enable accurate presympton detection of maternal tumors and treatment during pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-invasive detection of genomic imbalances in Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg cells in early and advanced stage Hodgkin's lymphoma by sequencing of circulating cell-free DNA: a technical proof-of-principle study.
Peter Vandenberghe,Iwona Wlodarska,Thomas Tousseyn,Luc Dehaspe,Daan Dierickx,Magali Verheecke,Anne Uyttebroeck,Oliver Bechter,Michel Delforge,Vincent Vandecaveye,Nathalie Brison,Gregor Verhoef,Eric Legius,Frédéric Amant,Joris Vermeesch +14 more
TL;DR: In early and advanced stage nodular sclerosis Hodgkin's lymphoma, genomic imbalances in Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg cells can be identified by massive parallel sequencing of circulating cell-free DNA at diagnosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of cancer in pregnancy.
Frédéric Amant,Sileny Han,Mina Mhallem Gziri,Tineke Vandenbroucke,Magali Verheecke,Kristel Van Calsteren +5 more
TL;DR: The observation that chemotherapy administered during the second or third trimester of pregnancy, that is, after the period of organogenesis, has little effect on the long-term outcome of children adds to the therapeutic armamentarium during pregnancy.
