Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in the prevalence of dyspepsia and Helicobacter pylori infection after 17 years: The Sørreisa gastrointestinal disorder study
Anne Mette Asfeldt,Bjørn Straume,Sonja E. Steigen,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Jon Florholmen,Jon Florholmen,Bjørn Bernersen,Roar Johnsen,Roar Johnsen,Eyvind J. Paulssen,Eyvind J. Paulssen +11 more
TL;DR: It is found that since 1987, the prevalence of H. pylori has decreased independently of dyspepsia, most pronounced in the younger age groups, thus indicating a cohort effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rose angina predicts 23-year coronary heart disease mortality in women and men aged 40–49 years
TL;DR: Angina symptoms in ages as low as 40–49 years were associated with elevated long-term CHD mortality in Norwegian women and men, indicating that the three-item version of the Rose Angina Questionnaire, although a screening tool rather than a diagnostic test, adds information on undiagnosed CHD in both sexes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic cigarettes and health with special focus on cardiovascular effects: position paper of the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC):
Maryam Kavousi,Charlotta Pisinger,Jean-Claude Barthélémy,Delphine De Smedt,Konstantinos C. Koskinas,Pedro Marques-Vidal,Demosthenes B. Panagiotakos,Eva Prescott,Monica Tiberi,Vassilios S. Vassiliou,Maja-Lisa Løchen +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the single largest preventable risk factor for premature death of non-communicable diseases and the second leading cause of cardiovascular disease was identified as a risk factor of tobacco use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonal variation in incidence of acute myocardial infarction in a sub-Arctic population: the Tromsø Study 1974-2004
Laila Arnesdatter Hopstock,Tom Wilsgaard,Inger Njølstad,Jan Mannsverk,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Kaare H. Bønaa +6 more
TL;DR: A small increase in risk of incident MI during the darkest winter months is found in the population of Tromsø in northern Norway, suggesting populations living in sub-Arctic areas may be adapted to face climate exposure during winter through behavioural protection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preventing heart failure: a position paper of the Heart Failure Association in collaboration with the European Association of Preventive Cardiology

Sliwa,Simon Stewart,Alicia Uijl,Ilonca Vaartjes,Roel Vermeulen,W. M. Monique Verschuren,Maurizio Volterrani,Stephan Von Heahling,Arno P Hoes +40 more
TL;DR: An overview of the population attributable risks in different continents is presented, to identify potentially effective opportunities for prevention and to inform preventive strategies.
