Journal ArticleDOI
Uric acid is associated with future atrial fibrillation: an 11-year follow-up of 6308 men and women--the Tromso Study.
Audhild Nyrnes,Ingrid Toft,Ingrid Toft,Inger Njølstad,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Tom Wilsgaard,John-Bjarne Hansen,John-Bjarne Hansen,Maja-Lisa Løchen +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that baseline SUA was associated with an increased risk for future AF in both sexes in a large population-based cohort study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between diastolic dysfunction and future atrial fibrillation in the Tromsø Study from 1994 to 2010
Sweta Tiwari,Henrik Schirmer,Bjarne K. Jacobsen,Laila Arnesdatter Hopstock,Audhild Nyrnes,Geir Heggelund,Inger Njølstad,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Maja-Lisa Løchen +8 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that enlarged LA as a measure for diastolic dysfunction is a significant risk factor for AF in both sexes, and adding measures of abnormal diastsolic flow increased the predictive ability significantly.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age and gender differences in incidence and case fatality trends for myocardial infarction: a 30-year follow-up. The Tromso Study.
Jan Mannsverk,Jan Mannsverk,Tom Wilsgaard,Inger Njølstad,Laila Arnesdatter Hopstock,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Dag S. Thelle,Knut Rasmussen,Kaare H. Bønaa,Kaare H. Bønaa +12 more
TL;DR: Gender- and age-specific trends in incidence, case fatality and the severity of first myocardial infarction (MI) in a large Norwegian population-based study suggest that the burden of CHD is shifting from middle-aging men toward middle-aged women and elderly patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Palpitations are predictive of future atrial fibrillation. An 11-year follow-up of 22,815 men and women: the Tromsø Study.
Audhild Nyrnes,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Ellisiv B. Mathiesen,Inger Njølstad,Tom Wilsgaard,Maja-Lisa Løchen +5 more
TL;DR: Palpitations, hypertension and BMI were predictive of future atrial fibrillation in both sexes and body height and BMIwere associated with increased risk for lone AF in men.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exposure and airway effects of seafood industry workers in northern Norway.
Berit Bang,Lisbeth Aasmoe,Aamodt Bh,Aardal L,G S Andorsen,Bolle R,Bøe R,Van Do T,Evans R,Florvåg E,Inger T. Gram,Huser Po,Eva Kramvik,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Pedersen B,Rasmussen T +15 more
TL;DR: Seafood industry workers showed a high prevalence of work-related airway symptoms and exposure to bioaerosols and exhaust gases in seafood industry plants and specific IgE-mediated reactions seemed to be relevant only in the shrimp industry.
