Evaluation of Synthetic Categorical Data Generation Techniques for Predicting Cardiovascular Diseases and Post-Hoc Interpretability of the Risk Factors
C. García-Vicente,David Chushig-Muzo,Inmaculada Mora-Jiménez,Himar Fabelo,Inger T. Gram,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Conceição Granja,Cristina Soguero-Ruiz +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a comparative study of several categorical synthetic data generation methods, including Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique Nominal (SMOTEN), Tabular Variational Autoencoder (TVAE), and Conditional Tabular Generative Adversarial Networks (CTGANs), was conducted to evaluate the impact of combining oversampling strategies and linear and nonlinear supervised ML methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors and prognosis for heart failure in atrial fibrillation subtypes in women and men
H Espnes,Jocasta Ball,Maja-Lisa Løchen,Tom Wilsgaard,Inger Njølstad,E. Mathiesen,Renate B. Schnabel,Eva Gerdts,Ekaterina Sharashova +8 more
TL;DR: Permanent AF, current smoking, and prevalent myocardial infarction were significant risk factors for HF in AF participants in both sexes, while hypertension was only associated with increased risk of HF in women and BMI and prevalent stroke in men.
