Journal ArticleDOI
Age-dependent immune response to the Biontech/Pfizer BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccination.
Lisa Müller,Marcel Andree,Wiebke Moskorz,Ingo Drexler,Lara Walotka,Ramona Grothmann,Johannes Ptok,Jonas Hillebrandt,Anastasia Ritchie,Denise Rabl,Philipp Niklas Ostermann,Rebekka Robitzsch,Sandra Hauka,Andreas Walker,Christopher Menne,Ralf Grutza,Jörg Timm,Ortwin Adams,Heiner Schaal +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a cohort study with two age groups, young vaccinees below the age of 60 and elderly vaccinees over 80, to compare their antibody responses to the first and second dose of the BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccination.
Journal ArticleDOI
SARS-CoV-2 targets neurons of 3D human brain organoids.
Anand Ramani,Lisa Müller,Philipp Niklas Ostermann,Elke Gabriel,Pranty Abida‐Islam,Andreas Müller-Schiffmann,Aruljothi Mariappan,Olivier Goureau,Henning Gruell,Andreas Walker,Marcel Andree,Sandra Hauka,Torsten Houwaart,Alexander T. Dilthey,Kai Wohlgemuth,Heymut Omran,Florian Klein,Dagmar Wieczorek,Ortwin Adams,Jörg Timm,Carsten Korth,Heiner Schaal,Jay Gopalakrishnan +22 more
TL;DR: Imaging neurons of organoids reveal that SARS‐CoV‐2 exposure is associated with altered distribution of Tau from axons to soma, hyperphosphorylation, and apparent neuronal death, and these studies provide initial insights into the potential neurotoxic effect of Sars‐Cov‐2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of SARS-CoV-2 in human semen-a cohort study.
Nora Holtmann,Philippos Edimiris,Marcel Andree,Cornelius Doehmen,D.M. Baston-Buest,Ortwin Adams,Jan-Steffen Kruessel,Alexandra P. Bielfeld +7 more
TL;DR: A mild COVID-19 infection is not likely to affect testis and epididymis function, whereas semen parameters did seem impaired after a moderate infection, which suggests no viral transmission during sexual contact and assisted reproductive techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intensity of mycophenolate mofetil treatment is associated with an impaired immune response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in kidney transplant recipients.
Johannes Stegbauer,Marta Kantauskaite,Lisa Müller,Thilo Kolb,Svenja Fischer,Jonas Hillebrandt,Katrin Ivens,Marcel Andree,Tom Luedde,Hans Martin Orth,Ortwin Adams,Heiner Schaal,Claudia Schmidt,Eva Königshausen,Lars Christian Rump,Jörg Timm,Johannes Stegbauer +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) treatment was evaluated in 225 kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) and compared to 176 controls, and MMF-free regimen was highly associated with seroconversion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extraction-free SARS-CoV-2 detection by rapid RT-qPCR universal for all primary respiratory materials.
Nadine Lübke,Tina Senff,Sara Scherger,Sandra Hauka,Marcel Andree,Ortwin Adams,Jörg Timm,Andreas Walker +7 more
TL;DR: This protocol for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in crude material using a prepared frozen-PCR mix with optimized primers and 5 µl of fresh, undiluted and pre-analytically heat inactivated respiratory material is fast, inexpensive and suitable for all respiratory materials.
