Journal ArticleDOI

Discrimination of whisky brands and counterfeit identification by UV-Vis spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis.

TL;DR: Results showed correct classification rates for genuine and false samples over 98.6% and 93.1%, respectively, indicating that the method can be helpful for the forensic analysis of whisky samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Non-destructive identification of different types and brands of blue pen inks in cursive handwriting by visible spectroscopy and PLS-DA for forensic analysis

TL;DR: The application partial least squares for discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and visible spectrometer measurements obtained by the Video Spectral Comparator (VSC6000®) for the nondestructive identification of blue pen inks of different types and brands in cursive handwriting texts for forensic applications is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Discrimination and quantification of cocaine and adulterants in seized drug samples by infrared spectroscopy and PLSR

TL;DR: Results indicate that the developed method is able to discriminate between cocaine hydrochloride and free base samples, to quantify cocaine content as well as to estimate the concentration of main adulterants phenacetin, benzocaine, caffeine, lidocaine and aminopyrine.
