Journal ArticleDOI
Electron grain boundary scattering and the resistivity of nanometric metallic structures
Ricardo Henriquez,Simón Cancino,Andres Espinosa,Marcos Flores,Thomas Hoffmann,German Kremer,Judit Lisoni,Luis Moraga,Roberto Morales,Simón Oyarzún,Marco Antonio Suárez,Alejandro Zúñiga,Raul C. Munoz +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the grain size was adjusted to separate the contribution to the resistivity originating in electron-grain boundary scattering, from that arising in electron surface scattering, on gold films approximately 54 nm thick.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size effects under a strong magnetic field: Hall effect induced by electron-surface scattering on thin gold films deposited onto mica substrates under high vacuum.
Raul C. Munoz,Juan Pablo García,Ricardo Henriquez,Ana Maria Moncada,Andres Espinosa,Marcelo Robles,German Kremer,Luis Moraga,Simón Cancino,J.R. Morales,Adán Ramírez,Simón Oyarzún,Marco Antonio Suárez,David Chen,E. Zumelzu,Claudio Lizama +15 more
TL;DR: Measurements of the Hall effect performed on 4 gold films evaporated onto mica substrates where the signal arises primarily from electron-surface scattering are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size effects on the Hall constant in thin gold films
Ricardo Henriquez,Simón Oyarzún,Marcos Flores,Marco Antonio Suárez,Luis Moraga,German Kremer,Claudio Gonzalez-Fuentes,Marcelo Robles,Raul C. Munoz +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Hall constant RH, drift mobility, and Hall mobility were measured at 4 K in thin gold films deposited on mica substrates, where the dominant electron scattering mechanism is electron surface scattering.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resistivity of thin gold films on mica induced by electron–surface scattering: Application of quantitative scanning tunneling microscopy
Marcelo Robles,Claudio Gonzalez-Fuentes,Ricardo Henriquez,German Kremer,Luis Moraga,Simón Oyarzún,Marco Antonio Suárez,Marcos Flores,Raul C. Munoz +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison between the resistivity measured on thin gold films deposited on mica, with predictions based on classical theories of size effects (Drude's, Sondheimer's and Calecki's), as well as predictions based upon quantum theories of electron surface scattering (the modified theory of Sheng, Xing and Wang, the theory of Tesanovic, Jaric and Maekawa, and that of Trivedi and Aschroft).
Journal ArticleDOI
Size effects under a strong magnetic field: transverse magnetoresistance of thin gold films deposited on mica
Raul C. Munoz,Ricardo Henriquez,Juan Pablo García,Ana Maria Moncada,Andres Espinosa,Marcelo Robles,German Kremer,Luis Moraga,Simón Cancino,J.R. Morales,Adán Ramírez,Simón Oyarzún,Marco Antonio Suárez,David Chen,E. Zumelzu,Claudio Lizama +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported measurements of transverse magnetoresistance where the signal can be attributed to electron surface scattering, together with measurements of the surface roughness of the films on an atomic scale.
