Journal ArticleDOI
The cathelicidin anti-microbial peptide LL-37 is involved in re-epithelialization of human skin wounds and is lacking in chronic ulcer epithelium.
Johan Heilborn,Margareta Frohm Nilsson,Gunnar Kratz,Günther Weber,Ole E. Sørensen,Niels Borregaard,Mona Ståhle-Bäckdahl +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that, in addition to being an anti-microbial peptide, LL-37 also plays a part in wound closure and that its reduction in chronic wounds impairs re-epithelialization and may contribute to their failure to heal.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Human Cationic Antimicrobial Protein (hCAP18), a Peptide Antibiotic, Is Widely Expressed in Human Squamous Epithelia and Colocalizes with Interleukin-6
Margareta Frohm Nilsson,Bengt Sandstedt,Ole E. Sørensen,Günther Weber,Niels Borregaard,Mona Ståhle-Bäckdahl +5 more
TL;DR: The finding that h CAP18 is widely produced in squamous epithelia suggests a role for this peptide in epithelial antimicrobial defense, and colocalization with interleukin-6 indicates a potential local mechanism for the upregulation of hCAP18 at the epithelial surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial protein hCAP18/LL-37 is highly expressed in breast cancer and is a putative growth factor for epithelial cells
Johan Heilborn,Margareta Frohm Nilsson,Clara I. Chamorro Jimenez,Bengt Sandstedt,Niels Borregaard,Emma Tham,Ole E. Sørensen,Günther Weber,Mona Ståhle +8 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that LL‐37 has an antitumor effect is supported, but the hypothesis that hCAP18/LL‐37 may promote tumor cell growth in breast cancer is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Older patients awaiting emergency department treatment.
Annica Kihlgren,Annica Kihlgren,Margareta Frohm Nilsson,Margareta Frohm Nilsson,Margareta Frohm Nilsson,Kirsti Skovdahl,Kirsti Skovdahl,Bert Palmblad,Anders Wimo +8 more
TL;DR: The way, in which nursing care was carried out appeared to be of major importance for the older peoples' experiences when visiting the ED, as well as the events that took place during the waiting period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Feeling old: being in a phase of transition in later life.
TL;DR: The comprehensive understanding was that the very old persons who also felt old were in a phase of transition, with the distinguishing qualities of those that felt old found to be in line with the dystonic dominance in the ninth stage designated by Joan Erikson of the previously described life cycle.
