Journal ArticleDOI
Anisotropic magnetic hydrogels: design, structure and mechanical properties.
Cristina Gila-Vilchez,Mari C. Mañas-Torres,Rafael Contreras-Montoya,Miguel Alaminos,Juan D. G. Durán,Luis Álvarez de Cienfuegos,Modesto T. López-López +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that it is possible to use magnetic particles as actuators for the alignment of the polymer chains in order to obtain anisotropic hydrogels and the microstructural arrangement and mechanical properties of the resulting hydrogel are characterized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Injectable Magnetic-Responsive Short-Peptide Supramolecular Hydrogels: Ex Vivo and In Vivo Evaluation.
Mari C. Mañas-Torres,Cristina Gila-Vilchez,Francisco J Vazquez-Perez,Pavel Kuzhir,David Momier,Jean-Claude Scimeca,Arnaud Borderie,Marianne Goracci,Fanny Burel-Vandenbos,Cristina Blanco-Elices,Ismael Rodríguez,Ismael Rodríguez,Miguel Alaminos,Luis Álvarez de Cienfuegos,Modesto T. López-López +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the behavior of biocompatible and biodegradable hydrogels made with Fmoc-diphenylalanine (Fmoc)-FF) and RGD short peptides to which MNP were incorporated was studied in detail with physicochemical, mechanical, and biological methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insulin Crystals Grown in Short-Peptide Supramolecular Hydrogels Show Enhanced Thermal Stability and Slower Release Profile.
Rafael Contreras-Montoya,María Arredondo-Amador,Guillermo Escolano-Casado,Mari C. Mañas-Torres,Mercedes González,Mayte Conejero-Muriel,Vaibhav Bhatia,Juan J. Díaz-Mochón,Olga Martínez-Augustin,Fermín Sánchez de Medina,Modesto T. López-López,Francisco Conejero-Lara,Jose A. Gavira,Luis Álvarez de Cienfuegos +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, two thermally stable insulin composite crystal formulations were obtained by crystallizing insulin in agarose and fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl-dialanine (Fmoc-AA) hydrogels.
Journal ArticleDOI
In situ real-time monitoring of the mechanism of self-assembly of short peptide supramolecular polymers
Mari C. Mañas-Torres,Cristina Gila-Vilchez,Juan A. González-Vera,Francisco Conejero-Lara,Víctor Blanco,Juan M. Cuerva,Modesto T. López-López,Angel Orte,Luis Álvarez de Cienfuegos +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the early stages of the fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl-diphenylalanine (Fmoc-FF) self-assembly process with single-molecule resolution, the kinetics of fiber formation, the packaging of peptides within the fibers and the capacity of the peptides to reassemble after disruption (self-healing) in the presence of different metallic cations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insights into the co-assemblies formed by different aromatic short-peptide amphiphiles
Cristina Gila-Vilchez,Mari C. Mañas-Torres,Juan A. González-Vera,Francisco Franco-Montalban,Juan A. Tamayo,Francisco Conejero-Lara,Juan M. Cuerva,Modesto T. López-López,Angel Orte,Luis Álvarez de Cienfuegos +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the co-aggregation of different aromatic short peptides containing Fmoc- (fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl-) and Nap- (2-(naphthalen-2-yloxy)acetyl) groups having also different chirality.
