Glycated hemoglobin for the diagnosis of diabetes and prediabetes: Diagnostic impact on obese and lean subjects, and phenotypic characterization
Michela Incani,Federica Sentinelli,Laura Perra,Maria Grazia Pani,Marta Porcu,Andrea Lenzi,Maria Gisella Cavallo,Efisio Cossu,Frida Leonetti,Marco Giorgio Baroni,Marco Giorgio Baroni +10 more
TL;DR: The aims of the present study were to evaluate the impact of HbA1c criteria to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes compared with OGTT, and to examine Hb a1c in relation to body mass index.
Glycated hemoglobin for the diagnosis of diabetes and prediabetes: Diagnostic impact on obese and lean subjects, and phenotypic
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the impact of HbA1c criteria to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes compared with OGTT, and examined Hb1c in relation to body mass index.
Journal ArticleDOI
The vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene rs11568820 variant is associated with type 2 diabetes and impaired insulin secretion in Italian adult subjects, and associates with increased cardio-metabolic risk in children.
Federica Sentinelli,Laura Bertoccini,Ilaria Barchetta,Danila Capoccia,Michela Incani,Maria Grazia Pani,Sandro Loche,Francesco Angelico,Marcello Arca,Sergio Morini,Ettore Manconi,Andrea Lenzi,E. Cossu,Frida Leonetti,Marco Giorgio Baroni,Marco Giorgio Baroni,Maria Gisella Cavallo +16 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated for the first time that VDR gene AA carriers have higher risk of T2DM and impaired insulin secretion and the association between AA homozygous and high-normal 2h glucose suggests that mild alterations associated with this genotype may appear early in life.
Journal ArticleDOI
The perilipin 2 (PLIN2) gene Ser251Pro missense mutation is associated with reduced insulin secretion and increased insulin sensitivity in Italian obese subjects.
Federica Sentinelli,Danila Capoccia,Michela Incani,Laura Bertoccini,Anna Severino,Maria Grazia Pani,Ettore Manconi,Efisio Cossu,Frida Leonetti,Marco Giorgio Baroni,Marco Giorgio Baroni +10 more
TL;DR: Perilipin 2 (PLIN2), a member of the family of perilipin lipid droplets coating proteins, is very widely expressed and may play a role in wound healing and in cell reprograming.
Journal ArticleDOI
An italian survey of compliance with major guidelines for l-thyroxine of primary hypothyroidism.
Silvia Vezzani,Elisa Giannetta,Barbara Altieri,Arcangelo Barbonetti,Giuseppe Bellastella,Rosaria Certo,Angelo Cignarelli,Francesca Cinti,Settimio D'Andrea,Giulia Di Dalmazi,Stefano Frara,Silvia Garelli,Giuseppe Giuffrida,Maria Ida Maiorino,Chiara Mele,Teresa Mezza,Maria Grazia Pani,Maria Teresa Samà,Chiara Satta,Daniele Santi +19 more
TL;DR: Clinical management of hypothyroidism in Italy demonstrated an observance of international guidelines by Italian endocrinologists and validation of the Italian version of the Morisky-Green Medical Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) questionnaire provides clinicians with a reliable and simple tool for assessing the adherence of patients to LT4 treatment.
