Journal ArticleDOI
The gross chemical composition of Antarctic krill shell waste
TL;DR: In this paper, the offals generated during the processing of krill to food and feed products, as commercial sources of chitin, were analyzed and three kinds of shell waste were analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radical scavenging activity of canola hull phenolics
TL;DR: In this article, the free radical-scavenging activity of phenolic extracts so prepared was evaluated using the 2,2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate) (ABTS) radical ion (ABTSo−), 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, and chemiluminescence assays.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Novel Processing Approach for Rapeseed and Mustard Seed-Removal of Undesirable Constituents by Methanol-Ammonia.
TL;DR: An overview of a novel two-phase solvent-extraction system developed for treatment of rapeseed and mustard seed in the authors' laboratories will be presented, and the oil obtained from this process was essentially free of phospholipids and may be considered as degummed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Properties of Blood Globin
TL;DR: The functional properties of a globin protein isolated by an acid-acetone-salt treatment were studied in this article, which indicated that the product is a good source of lysine, leucine and valine; the limiting amino acids are methionine and isoleucine.
