Journal ArticleDOI
An update on larynx cancer.
TL;DR: The care for patients with laryngeal cancer continues to evolve and truly requires a multidisciplinary team-based approach as discussed by the authors, which is the most common cause of lung cancer deaths.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deep convolutional neural networks for classifying head and neck cancer using hyperspectral imaging
Martin Halicek,Guolan Lu,James V. Little,Xu Wang,Mihir R. Patel,Christopher C. Griffith,Mark W. El-Deiry,Amy Y. Chen,Baowei Fei +8 more
TL;DR: A convolutional neural network classifier is developed to classify excised, squamous-cell carcinoma, thyroid cancer, and normal head and neck tissue samples using HSI, and the CNN classification was validated by the manual annotation of a pathologist specialized in head and head cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Paranasal sinus squamous cell carcinoma incidence and survival based on Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results data, 1973 to 2009
Benjamin E. Ansa,Michael Goodman,Kevin C. Ward,Scott A. Kono,Taofeek K. Owonikoko,Kristin Higgins,Jonathan J. Beitler,William Grist,Trad Wadsworth,Mark W. El-Deiry,Amy Y. Chen,Fadlo R. Khuri,Dong M. Shin,Nabil F. Saba +13 more
TL;DR: Paranasal sinus squamous cell carcinomas account for 3% of all head and neck malignancies, but there has been little information on the trends in incidence and survival, and no randomized trials have been conducted to guide therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of Head and Neck Cancer in Surgical Specimens Using Quantitative Hyperspectral Imaging
Guolan Lu,James V. Little,Xu Wang,Hongzheng Zhang,Mihir R. Patel,Christopher C. Griffith,Mark W. El-Deiry,Amy Y. Chen,Baowei Fei,Baowei Fei +9 more
TL;DR: Quantitative HSI differentiated cancerous tissue from normal tissue in ex vivo surgical specimens with a sensitivity and specificity of 91% and 91%, respectively, and which was more accurate than autofluorescence imaging or fluorescence imaging of 2-NBDG and proflavine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lymph node ratio influence on risk of head and neck cancer locoregional recurrence after initial surgical resection: Implications for adjuvant therapy
Roshan S. Prabhu,Sheela Hanasoge,Kelly R. Magliocca,William A. Hall,S.A. Chen,Kristin Higgins,Nabil F. Saba,Mark W. El-Deiry,William Grist,J. Trad Wadsworth,Amy Y. Chen,Jonathan J. Beitler +11 more
TL;DR: The purpose of this study was to determine if lymph node ratio is associated with locoregional recurrence for patients with oral cavity or laryngeal cancer treated with initial surgical management.
