The care for patients with laryngeal cancer continues to evolve and truly requires a multidisciplinary team-based approach as discussed by the authors, which is the most common cause of lung cancer deaths.
Abstract
Answer questions and earn CME/CNE Laryngeal cancer remains one of the most common tumors of the respiratory tract. Fortunately, significant advancements have been made over the past decade in the treatment of laryngeal cancer. Although surgery has been the historical mainstay for localized disease and still is an integral part of treatment, nonsurgical options like radiation and systemic therapy have emerged as viable options. In addition, in the metastatic setting, novel agents are showing promise for this patient population. The care for patients with laryngeal cancer continues to evolve and truly requires a multidisciplinary team-based approach. Unique morbidities, such as loss of natural voice, respiration, and airway protection during swallowing, are observed with this disease and require special consideration. Updates on larynx cancer epidemiology.

TL;DR: Laryngeal cancer still poses a high clinical and societal burden, with an escalating temporal trend not expected to reverse soon, and the ratio between deaths and incidence is the highest in Africa.

Rapid histology of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma with deep-learning based stimulated Raman scattering microscopy.

TL;DR: The results indicated that SRS histology integrated with deep learning algorithm provides potential for delivering rapid intraoperative diagnosis that could aid the surgical management of laryngeal cancer.

circPARD3 drives malignant progression and chemoresistance of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma by inhibiting autophagy through the PRKCI-Akt-mTOR pathway

TL;DR: This study reveals that the novel autophagy-suppressive circPARD3 promotes LSCC progression and chemoresistance through the PRKCI-Akt-mTOR pathway, providing new insights into circRNA-mediated autophagic regulation and potential biomarker and target for LSCC treatment.

Biological Function of Long Non-coding RNA (LncRNA) Xist.

TL;DR: Cao et al. as mentioned in this paper summarized recent progress in understanding the cellular functions of long non-coding RNA X-inactive specific transcript (lncRNA Xist) in mammalian cells and discussed current knowledge regarding the ceRNA network of lnc RNA Xist in various diseases.

TL;DR: Overall cancer incidence trends are stable in women, but declining by 3.1% per year in men, much of which is because of recent rapid declines in prostate cancer diagnoses, and brain cancer has surpassed leukemia as the leading cause of cancer death among children and adolescents.

Combined Nivolumab and Ipilimumab or Monotherapy in Untreated Melanoma.

TL;DR: Among previously untreated patients with metastatic melanoma, nivolumab alone or combined with ipilimumab resulted in significantly longer progression-free survival than ipILimumab alone, and in patients with PD-L1-negative tumors, the combination of PD-1 and CTLA-4 blockade was more effective than either agent alone.

TL;DR: It is shown that human-papillomavirus-associated tumours are dominated by helical domain mutations of the oncogene PIK3CA, novel alterations involving loss of TRAF3, and amplification of the cell cycle gene E2F1.
