Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion
Ana Margarida Balsa,Celestino Neves,Marta Alves,Miguel Pereira,Davide Carvalho,J Luís Medina +5 more
TL;DR: There was a subjective perception of reduced frequency of adverse events with ISCI, and the introduction of CSII allowed optimization of metabolic control, reduction of the daily insulin requirements and achievement of a higher level of satisfaction with no change in lipid profile, no weight gain and without increasing the frequency of adversely events.
Journal ArticleDOI

Retinal Neurodegeneration in Diabetic Patients Without Diabetic Retinopathy
Joana Tavares Ferreira,Marta Alves,Arnaldo Dias-Santos,L. Costa,Bruno Santos,João Paulo Cunha,Ana Luísa Papoila,Luís Abegão Pinto +7 more
TL;DR: Overall, groups I and III of diabetic patients had a decrease in the photoreceptor layer (PR) thickness, when compared with the nondiabetic subjects in six ETDRS areas, suggesting that some form of neurodegeneration may take place before clinical signs of vascular problems arise.
Journal ArticleDOI
OCT in Alzheimer's Disease: Thinning of the RNFL and Superior Hemiretina
João Paulo Cunha,Rita Pinto Proença,Arnaldo Dias-Santos,Rita Almeida,Helena Águas,Marta Alves,Ana Luísa Papoila,Carlota Louro,António Castanheira-Dinis +8 more
TL;DR: Patients with AD showed a significant thickness reduction in global and temporal superior quadrants in pRNFL and in superior pericentral and peripheral sectors of RT, suggesting the importance of SD-OCT as a potential adjuvant in early diagnosis of AD.
