Journal ArticleDOI
Galantamine Is an Allosterically Potentiating Ligand of Neuronal Nicotinic but Not of Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptors
Marek Samochocki,Anja Höffle,Andreas Fehrenbacher,Ruth Jostock,Jürgen Ludwig,Claudia Christner,Martin Radina,Marion Zerlin,Christoph Ullmer,Edna F. R. Pereira,Hermann Lübbert,Edson X. Albuquerque,Alfred Maelicke +12 more
TL;DR: These studies support the previous proposal that the therapeutic action of galantamine is mainly produced by its sensitizing action on nAChRs rather than by general cholinergic enhancement due to cholinesterase inhibition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Allosterically potentiating ligands of nicotinic receptors as a treatment strategy for Alzheimer's disease.
TL;DR: A group of modulating ligands of nicotinic receptors, named allosterically potentiating ligands (APL), which increase the probability of channel opening induced by ACh and Nicotinic agonists, and in addition decrease receptor desensitization are suggested.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors conducted a retrospective analysis of demographic data and derived the cycle threshold (Ct) values from 2,076,887 nasopharyngeal swab RT-qPCR tests that were performed at a single diagnostic laboratory in the Czech Republic from April 2020 to April 2022 and from 221,671 tests as a part of a mandatory school surveillance testing program from March 2021 to March 2022.
