Response of bryophytes to afforestation, increase of air humidity, and enrichment of soil diaspore bank
Nele Ingerpuu,Tiiu Kupper,Tiiu Kupper,Kai Vellak,Kai Vellak,Priit Kupper,Jaak Sober,Arvo Tullus,Martin Zobel,Jaan Liira +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a five-year experiment on the Free Air Humidity Manipulation experimental facility (FAHM) with planted deciduous trees to examine how both the grassland afforestation with deciducuous trees and the increase of air humidity in interaction with forest soil supplementation and cover of herbaceous layer affect the species richness, composition and bryophyte layer.
Population stage structure of three congeneric Dryopteris species in Estonia
Kai Rünk,Mari Moora,Martin Zobel +2 more
TL;DR: The aim was to compare the population stage structure of the three congeneric fern species in Estonia and to observe whether their population structure fluctuates differently in different sites in different years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Light availability and light demand of plants shape the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal communities in their roots
Lena Neuenkamp,Lena Neuenkamp,Martin Zobel,Kadri Koorem,Teele Jairus,John Davison,Maarja Öpik,Martti Vasar,Mari Moora +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that favourable environmental conditions widen the plant biotic niche, as demonstrated here with optimal light availability reducing plants' selectivity for specific AM fungi, and promote compatibility with a larger number of AM fungal taxa.
Book
Frontiers of vegetation science - An evolutionary angle
Ladislav Mucina,Jesse M. Kalwij,Valdon R. Smith,Milan Chytrý,Peter S. White,Sarel S. Cilliers,Valério D. Pillar,Martin Zobel,I-Fang Sun +8 more
TL;DR: The 51st Annual Symposium of the International Association for Vegetation Science, Stellenbosch, South Africa, September 7-12, 2008 as mentioned in this paper was held in South Africa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Establishment of a cross-European field site network in the ALARM project for assessing large-scale changes in biodiversity
Volker Hammen,Jacobus C. Biesmeijer,Riccardo Bommarco,Eduardas Budrys,Torben R. Christensen,Stefan Fronzek,Ralf Grabaum,P. Jaksic,Stefan Klotz,P. Kramarz,György Kröel-Dulay,Ingolf Kühn,Michael Mirtl,Mari Moora,Theodora Petanidou,Joan Pino,Simon G. Potts,Agnès Rortais,Christian H. Schulze,Ingolf Steffan-Dewenter,Jane C. Stout,Hajnalka Szentgyörgyi,Marco Vighi,Ante Vujić,Catrin Westphal,T. Wolf,Gonzalo Zavala,Martin Zobel,Josef Settele,William E. Kunin +29 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that ALARM FSN sites together with other research sites in Europe jointly could be used as a future backbone for research proposals.
