Journal ArticleDOI

Low-frequency Raman spectra of lysozyme.

TL;DR: New techniques in laser Raman spectroscopy are used to obtain spectra of aqueous solutions of lysozylme for frequency shifts as small as 5 cm−1, and a low‐frequency band observed in crystalline lysozyme is not found in the solution, indicating that this band cannot be attributed to an internal molecular vibration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of carboxymyoglobin in crystals and in solution

TL;DR: The configuration of the heme-carbonyl group upon binding of carbon monoxide to sperm whale myoglobin (Mb) in crystals is evaluated on the basis of infrared spectroscopic methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reactivity and cryoenzymology of enzymes in the crystalline state.

TL;DR: The application of X-ray diffraction techniques to determine the molecular structure of molecules in dilute solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Catalytic role of the metal ion of carboxypeptidase A in ester hydrolysis.

TL;DR: Results indicate that in the esterolytic reaction of carboxypeptidase, a deacylation of a mixed anhydride acyl-enzyme intermediate is catalyzed by a metal-bound hydroxide group.
