Between-Hospital Variation in Treatment and Outcomes in Extremely Preterm Infants
Matthew A. Rysavy,Lei Li,Edward F. Bell,Abhik Das,Susan R. Hintz,Barbara J. Stoll,Betty R. Vohr,Waldemar A. Carlo,Seetha Shankaran,Michele C. Walsh,Jon E. Tyson,C. Michael Cotten,P. Brian Smith,Jeff Murray,Tarah T. Colaizy,Jane E. Brumbaugh,Rosemary D. Higgins +16 more
TL;DR: Differences in hospital practices regarding the initiation of active treatment in infants born at 22, 23, or 24 weeks of gestation explain some of the between-hospital variation in survival and survival without impairment among such patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Survival and Neurodevelopmental Outcomes among Periviable Infants.
Noelle Younge,Ricki F. Goldstein,Carla Bann,Susan R. Hintz,Ravi Mangal Patel,P. Brian Smith,Edward F. Bell,Matthew A. Rysavy,Matthew A. Rysavy,Andrea F. Duncan,Betty R. Vohr,Abhik Das,Ronald N. Goldberg,Rosemary D. Higgins,C. Michael Cotten +14 more
TL;DR: The rate of survival without neurodevelopmental impairment increased between 2000 and 2011 in this large cohort of periviable infants and after adjustment for changes in the baseline characteristics of the infants over time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mortality, In-Hospital Morbidity, Care Practices, and 2-Year Outcomes for Extremely Preterm Infants in the US, 2013-2018.
Edward F. Bell,Susan R. Hintz,Nellie I. Hansen,Carla Bann,Myra H. Wyckoff,Sara B. DeMauro,Michele C. Walsh,Betty R. Vohr,Barbara J. Stoll,Waldemar A. Carlo,Krisa P. Van Meurs,Matthew A. Rysavy,Ravi Mangal Patel,Stephanie L. Merhar,Pablo J. Sánchez,Abbot R. Laptook,Anna Maria Hibbs,C. Michael Cotten,Carl T. D'Angio,Sarah Winter,Janell Fuller,Abhik Das +21 more
TL;DR: To review survival, in-hospital morbidities, care practices, and neurodevelopmental and functional outcomes at 22-26 months' corrected age for extremely preterm infants, a large cohort of infants born in 2013-2018 was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Survival of Infants Born at Periviable Gestational Ages
TL;DR: A historical perspective on survival following periviable birth is provided, recent and new data on gestational age-specific survival rates are summarized, and factors that have a significant impact on survival are addressed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of an Updated Neonatal Research Network Extremely Preterm Birth Outcome Model in the Vermont Oxford Network.
Matthew A. Rysavy,Jeffrey D. Horbar,Edward F. Bell,Lei Li,Lucy T. Greenberg,Jon E. Tyson,Ravi Mangal Patel,Waldemar A. Carlo,Noelle Younge,Charles Green,Erika M. Edwards,Susan R. Hintz,Michele C. Walsh,Jeffrey S. Buzas,Abhik Das,Rosemary D. Higgins +15 more
TL;DR: An updated model using well-known factors to predict survival for extremely preterm infants performed moderately well when applied to large US cohorts and showed a predictive advantage over the original model with a gestational age-only approach.
