Journal ArticleDOI
Data sovereignty: A review:
TL;DR: This study reviews 341 publications and proposes a conceptual grid to systematize different dimensions and connotations of data sovereignty, which alludes to a nuanced mixture of normative concepts such as inclusive deliberation and recognition of the fundamental rights of data subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Primer on an ethics of AI-based decision support systems in the clinic.
TL;DR: This article analyses how the rise of AI-DSS will affect and transform the modes of interaction between different agents in the clinic and draws first conclusions for further steps regarding a ‘meaningful human control’ of clinical AI- DSS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Own Data? Ethical Reflections on Data Ownership
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify four conceptual dimensions of calls for data ownership and argue that these help to systematize and to compare different positions, and they introduce, spell out and defend a constructive interpretative proposal: data ownership is charitably understood as attempts to call for the redistribution of material resources and socio-cultural recognition of data subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distributed Global Debris Thickness Estimates Reveal Debris Significantly Impacts Glacier Mass Balance.
David R. Rounce,David R. Rounce,Regine Hock,Regine Hock,Robert McNabb,Robert McNabb,Romain Millan,Christian Sommer,Matthias Braun,Philipp Malz,Fabien Maussion,Jeremie Mouginot,Thorsten Seehaus,David Shean +13 more
TL;DR: This work provides the first globally distributed debris thickness estimates using a novel approach combining sub‐debris melt and surface temperature inversion methods, and demonstrates the importance of accounting for debris in glacier modeling efforts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Global time series and temporal mosaics of glacier surface velocities derived from Sentinel-1 data
TL;DR: Friedl et al. as discussed by the authors presented a new global data set of glacier surface velocities that comprises continuously updated scene-pair velocity fields, as well as monthly and annually averaged velocity mosaics at 200'm spatial resolution.
