Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of climate change effects on mountain ecosystems through a cross-site analysis in the Alps and Apennines.
Michela Rogora,Ludovico Frate,Maria Laura Carranza,Michele Freppaz,Angela Stanisci,Isabella Bertani,Roberta Bottarin,Alice Brambilla,Roberto Canullo,Michele Carbognani,C. Viterbi,Pascal Vittoz,Manuela Winkler,Giorgio Matteucci +38 more
TL;DR: A synthesis and a review of the main results from ecological studies in mountain ecosystems at 20 LTER sites in Italy, Switzerland and Austria covering in most cases more than two decades of observations highlight the rapid response of mountain ecosystems to climate change.
Journal ArticleDOI
What has happened to coastal dunes in the last half century? A multitemporal coastal landscape analysis in Central Italy
Marco Malavasi,Riccardo Santoro,Maurizio Cutini,Alicia Teresa Rosario Acosta,Maria Laura Carranza +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the spatial pattern of natural dune cover types, (Beaches with Pioneer annual vegetation, Herbaceous Dune Vegetation and Woody Dune vegetation) was described by patch-based (Patch Size and Shape Index) and edge-based metrics, (patch shared boundaries with manmade cover types) and compared using the nonparametric, Kruskal-Wallis median test.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of human pressure on landscape patterns and plant species richness in Mediterranean coastal dunes
Marco Malavasi,Riccardo Santoro,Maurizio Cutini,Alicia Teresa Rosario Acosta,M. Laura Carranza +4 more
TL;DR: In sites with high human pressure, a general simplification in the natural dune spatial pattern and a decline of plant richness but with a specific response for each cover type, which effectively describes fragmentation and biodiversity in dune ecosystems.
A methodological protocol for Annex i Habitats monitoring: The contribution of vegetation science

Journal ArticleDOI
Landscape fragmentation, land-use legacy and propagule pressure promote plant invasion on coastal dunes: a patch-based approach
Marco Malavasi,Marta Carboni,Maurizio Cutini,Maria Laura Carranza,Alicia Teresa Rosario Acosta +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed how habitat fragmentation, propagule pressure and land-use legacy have affected alien plants' presence and richness on natural dune patches along the Lazio Coast (Central Italy).
