Short QT syndrome : clinical findings and diagnostic-therapeutic implications. Commentary
Giuseppe Boriani,Mauro Biffi,Cinzia Valzania,Gabriele Bronzetti,Cristian Martignani,Carla Giustetto,Fernando Di Monte,Christian Wolpert,Martin Borggrefe,Rainer Schimpf,Pascal Sbragia,Gianpiero Leone,Philippe Maury,Olli Anttonen,Michel Haïssaguerre,Fiorenzo Gaita +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported clinical presentation, occurrence of sudden infant death, and results of the available therapies in the largest group of patients with short QT syndrome (SQTS), studied so far, are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized comparison of simultaneous biventricular stimulation versus optimized interventricular delay in cardiac resynchronization therapy The Resynchronization for the HemodYnamic Treatment for Heart Failure Management II implantable cardioverter defibrillator (RHYTHM II ICD) study
Giuseppe Boriani,C. Müller,Karl Heinz Seidl,Rainer Grove,Jürgen Vogt,Wilfried Dänschel,Andreas Schuchert,Pierre Djiane,Mauro Biffi,Thorsten Becker,Christophe Bailleul,Hans Joachim Trappe +11 more
TL;DR: Cardioverter-defibrillator capabilities was associated with a significant alleviation of CHF symptoms, increase in functional capacity, and improvement in QOL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cost-effectiveness of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators
TL;DR: The possibility of implanting an implantable cardioverterdefibrillator in the electrophysiological laboratory, with minimal risks for patients, has meant that the implantable Cardiac Implant is considered the best therapeutic strategy in the prevention of arrhythmic death in selected patients at high risk of sudden cardiac death.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simplified biventricular defibrillator with fixed long detection intervals reduces implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) interventions and heart failure hospitalizations in patients with non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy implanted for primary prevention: the RELEVANT [Role of long dEtection window programming in patients with LEft VentriculAr dysfunction, Non-ischemic eTiology in primary prevention treated with a biventricular ICD] study
Maurizio Gasparini,Carlo Menozzi,Alessandro Proclemer,Maurizio Landolina,Severio Iacopino,Angelo Carboni,Ernesto Lombardo,François Regoli,Mauro Biffi,Valeria Burrone,Alessandra Denaro,Giuseppe Boriani +11 more
TL;DR: A simplified CRT-D device with fixed long detection reduced overall ICD therapy burden and HF hospitalizations without entailing any additional adverse events in primary prevention non-ischaemic HF patients.
