Journal ArticleDOI
Quantifying the risk of neurodegenerative disease in idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder
Ronald B. Postuma,Jean-François Gagnon,Mélanie Vendette,Maria Livia Fantini,Jessica Massicotte-Marquez,Jacques Montplaisir +5 more
TL;DR: The risk of developing neurodegenerative disease in idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder is substantial, with the majority of patients developing Parkinson disease and Lewy body dementia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mild cognitive impairment in rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder and Parkinson's disease.
Jean-François Gagnon,Mélanie Vendette,Ronald B. Postuma,Catherine Desjardins,Jessica Massicotte-Marquez,Michel Panisset,Jacques Montplaisir +6 more
TL;DR: To investigate the frequency and subtypes of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and Parkinson's disease (PD) in association with RBD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder and risk of dementia in Parkinson's disease: a prospective study.
Ronald B. Postuma,Josie-Anne Bertrand,Jacques Montplaisir,Catherine Desjardins,Mélanie Vendette,Silvia Rios Romenets,Michel Panisset,Jean-François Gagnon +7 more
TL;DR: RBD was associated with increased risk of dementia, indicating that RBD may be a marker of a relatively diffuse, complex subtype of PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
REM sleep behavior disorder predicts cognitive impairment in Parkinson disease without dementia
Mélanie Vendette,Jean-François Gagnon,Anne Décary,Jessica Massicotte-Marquez,Ronald B. Postuma,Julien Doyon,Michel Panisset,Jacques Montplaisir +7 more
TL;DR: Patients with Parkinson disease without dementia with polysomnography-confirmed or excluded REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and without RBD showed mild impairment of executive function and memory, which can be seen in the early stages of PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Markers of neurodegeneration in idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behaviour disorder and Parkinson's disease
TL;DR: Autonomic dysfunction and colour vision appear to be more linked to rapid eye movement sleep behaviour disorder status than Parkinson's disease, suggesting a unique pathophysiology of these abnormalities.
