Predicting Coronary Heart Disease Using Risk Factor Categories for a Japanese Urban Population, and Comparison with the Framingham Risk Score: The Suita Study
Kunihiro Nishimura,Tomonori Okamura,Makoto Watanabe,Michikazu Nakai,Misa Takegami,Aya Higashiyama,Yoshihiro Kokubo,Akira Okayama,Yoshihiro Miyamoto +8 more
TL;DR: The FRS and recalibrated FRS overestimated the 10-year risk of CHD for the Japanese population and a predictive score including CKD as a coronary risk factor was more accurate for predicting CHD than the original Framingham risk scores in terms of the C-statics and NRI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activating Transcription Factor 4 Links Metabolic Stress to Interleukin-6 Expression in Macrophages
Yorihiro Iwasaki,Takayoshi Suganami,Rumi Hachiya,Rumi Hachiya,Ibuki Shirakawa,Misa Kim-Saijo,Miyako Tanaka,Miho Hamaguchi,Takako Takai-Igarashi,Michikazu Nakai,Yoshihiro Miyamoto,Yoshihiro Ogawa +11 more
TL;DR: It is reported that activating transcription factor (ATF) 4, a transcription factor that is induced downstream of metabolic stresses including endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, plays critical roles in SFA-induced interleukin-6 (Il6) expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anticoagulation combined with antiplatelet therapy in patients with left ventricular thrombus after first acute myocardial infarction
Naoki Maniwa,Masashi Fujino,Michikazu Nakai,Kunihiro Nishimura,Yoshihiro Miyamoto,Yu Kataoka,Yasuhide Asaumi,Yoshio Tahara,Michio Nakanishi,Toshihisa Anzai,Kengo Kusano,Takashi Akasaka,Yoichi Goto,Teruo Noguchi,Satoshi Yasuda +14 more
TL;DR: Assessment of clinical characteristics, incidence of systemic embolism (SE), and association between anticoagulation and embolic or bleeding events in patients with first acute myocardial infarction complicated by left ventricular thrombus shows that Appropriate antICOagulation therapy may decrease the incidence of embolic events without increasing the occurrence of bleeding events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary Artery Ectasia Predicts Future Cardiac Events in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction.
Takahito Doi,Yu Kataoka,Teruo Noguchi,Tatsuhiro Shibata,Takahiro Nakashima,Shoji Kawakami,Kazuhiro Nakao,Masashi Fujino,Toshiyuki Nagai,Tomoaki Kanaya,Yoshio Tahara,Yasuhide Asaumi,Etsuko Tsuda,Michikazu Nakai,Kunihiro Nishimura,Toshihisa Anzai,Kengo Kusano,Hiroaki Shimokawa,Yoichi Goto,Satoshi Yasuda +19 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that acute MI patients with CAE are a high-risk subset who might benefit from a pharmacological approach to controlling the coagulation cascade.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hypertension and lifetime risk of stroke.
Tanvir Chowdhury Turin,Tomonori Okamura,Arfan R. Afzal,Nahid Rumana,Makoto Watanabe,Aya Higashiyama,Yoko M. Nakao,Michikazu Nakai,Misa Takegami,Kunihiro Nishimura,Yoshihiro Kokubo,Akira Okayama,Yoshihiro Miyamoto +12 more
TL;DR: Hypertension has significant effect on the residual LTR of stroke among both men and women of middle age, specifically for ischemic stroke in this urban community-based population.
