Usage of plant food supplements across six European countries: findings from the PlantLIBRA consumer survey.
Alicia Garcia-Alvarez,Bernadette Egan,Simone de Klein,Lorena Dima,F.M. Maggi,Merja Isoniemi,Lourdes Ribas-Barba,Monique M. Raats,Eva Melanie Meissner,Mihaela Badea,Flavia Bruno,Maija Salmenhaara,Raimon Milà-Villarroel,Viktoria Knaze,Charo Hodgkins,Angela Marculescu,Liisa Uusitalo,Patrizia Restani,Lluis Serra-Majem +18 more
TL;DR: The PlantLIBRA consumer survey is unique in reporting on usage patterns of PFS consumers in six European countries, highlighting the complexity of measuring the intake of such products, particularly at pan-European level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated serum creatine phosphokinase in choline-deficient humans: mechanistic studies in C2C12 mouse myoblasts
TL;DR: Serum CPK may be a useful clinical marker for choline deficiency in humans because it results in diminished concentrations of membrane phosphatidylcholine in myocytes, which makes them more fragile and results in increased leakage of CPK from cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plant Food Supplements with Anti-Inflammatory Properties: A Systematic Review (II)
Chiara Di Lorenzo,Mario Dell'Agli,Mihaela Badea,Lorena Dima,Elisa Colombo,Enrico Sangiovanni,Patrizia Restani,Enrica Bosisio +7 more
TL;DR: It is advisable to conduct further studies with more homogeneous population and larger number of subjects by avoiding the heterogeneity of the herbal preparations considered, since Boswellia serrata Roxb.
Journal ArticleDOI
Usage of Plant Food Supplements (PFS) for weight control in six European countries: results from the PlantLIBRA PFS Consumer Survey 2011-2012
Alicia Garcia-Alvarez,Raimon Milà-Villarroel,Lourdes Ribas-Barba,Bernadette Egan,Mihaela Badea,F.M. Maggi,Maija Salmenhaara,Patrizia Restani,Lluis Serra-Majem,Lluis Serra-Majem +9 more
TL;DR: The herbal ingredients in PFS consumed for weight control and by overweight/obese dieters in six European countries are identified, and the relationship between their consumption and their self-reported BMI is explored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Wearable Biosensors: An Alternative and Practical Approach in Healthcare and Disease Monitoring.
TL;DR: Wearable devices have evolved gradually with a mix of multiplexed biosensing, microfluidic sampling and transport systems integrated with flexible materials and body attachments for improved wearability and simplicity as mentioned in this paper.
