Ultrasound assisted salts–metal reaction for synthesizing TiB2 particles at low temperature

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel ultrasound assisted technique was proposed with the aim of synthesizing TiB2 particles in the Al melt at low temperature by means of introducing high-intensity ultrasound into the salts-metal reaction at 700°C, which was at least 100°C lower than those in the conventional methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical modelling and experimental approach for surface morphology evaluation during ultrasonic shot peening

TL;DR: In this article, the surface morphology of severely plastically deformed AISI-1018 steel plates, induced by ultrasonic shot peening process, was investigated by using finite element method and experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Overview of ultrasonic shot peening

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed ultrasonic shot peening (USP) as an effective surface treatment method to enhance the mechanical performance of materials by inducing compressive residual stress in solid metals and...
Journal ArticleDOI

In situ formed Al3Ti particles in Al alloy matrix and their effects on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 7075 alloy

TL;DR: In this article, in situ Al3Ti/7075 alloy composites were fabricated by adding K2TiF6 salt powders into molten 7075 alloy at 750 °C via casting method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrasonic shot peening

TL;DR: A brief overview of published results pertinent to ultrasonic shot peening, a relatively new method to introduce severe plastic deformations in the surface of materials and obtain nanosized grains, is given in this article.
