Artificial neural networks (ANNs) constitute a class of flexible nonlinear models designed to mimic biological neural systems. A heat pipe is an energy-efficient heat transfer device that relies on evaporation and condensation processes for energy transfer. The main purpose of this study is to simulate a two-phase closed thermosyphon, at moderate temperature, that can be used in industrial applications such as steam power plants. After creating a computational network in the Gambit software, the thermosyphon is simulated in Fluent software using the VOF model. Special oil is employed as the working fluid. Based on the CFD results, the efficiency of the system reaches approximately 96%, and the thermal resistance decreases to 0.54 K/W. The contours of the boiling and evaporation process at differing filling ratios, ranging between 30–90%, is visually investigated and the best performance is obtained for 30% of the filling ratio in thermosyphon. At higher filling ratios, more giant bubbles are generated in thermosyphon, which can attach to the inner wall of the system and reduce the thermal performance. The steady-state condition is obtained 84 s after the start of the process.

CFD Modelling and Visual Analysis of Heat Transfer and Flow Pattern in a Vertical Two-Phase Closed Thermosyphon for Moderate-Temperature Application

In this paper, we apply the suggested iterative method by Daftardar and Jafari hereafter called Daftardar-Jafari method for solving singular boundary value problems. In the implementation of this new method, one does not need the computation of the derivative of the so-called Adomian polynomials. The method is quite efficient and is practically well suited for use in these problems. Two illustrative examples has been presented.

Solving Singular Boundary Value Problems Using Daftardar-Jafari Method

A high performance and fast response sensor was fabricated as a monitoring system for the determination of butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) in food and wastewater samples. In this regard, a carbon paste electrode (CPE) that was amplified with platinum-decorated single wall carbon nanotubes (Pt/SWCNTs) and 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C4mim][Cl]) was investigated as a new electroanalytical sensor for the monitoring of BHA in aqueous solution. The [C4mim][Cl]/Pt/SWCNTs/CPE offered an excellent catalytic activity on oxidation signal of BHA and enhanced its oxidation current about 5.51 times. In the final step, the standard addition results confirmed the powerful ability of [C4mim][Cl]/Pt/SWCNTs/CPE to the monitoring of BHA in different water and food samples with acceptable recovery data.
