Stabilizing slider-crank mechanism with clearance joints

TL;DR: In this article, a slider-crank mechanism with a revolute clearance joint between the slider and the connecting rod is addressed, and a control mechanism based on the Pyragas method is presented for stabilizing an unstable periodic orbit embedded in the chaotic attractor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bifurcation in planar slider–crank mechanism with revolute clearance joint

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived differential equations of motion for a slider-crank mechanism with clearance in the revolute joint between the slider and connecting rod, and the normal contact force developed in the journal-bearing system was calculated using the continuous contact force model proposed by Lankarani and Nikravesh.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonlinear vibration analysis of an axially moving drillstring system with time dependent axial load and axial velocity in inclined well

TL;DR: In this article, a nonlinear model was developed for a drillstring system in deviated well with axially moving motion and axial loading, using the perturbation techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tuning the primary resonances of a micro resonator, using piezoelectric actuation

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of piezoelectric actuation on the resonance frequencies of a capacitive clamped-clamped microbeam is studied. And the authors show that for small amplitudes of harmonic excitation and high enough quality factor, the frequency response curves obtained by the shooting method are validated with those of the multiple time scales technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

A conceptual study on the dynamics of a piezoelectric MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) energy harvester

TL;DR: In this article, a bimorph piezoelectric micro cantilever exposed to harmonic base excitation is investigated and the output power in terms of the load resistance of the output circuit, exhibits Lorenzian behavior revealing the multi factorial dependency of the power on the governing parameters.
