Classical topological order in the kinetics of artificial spin ice
Yuyang Lao,Francesco Caravelli,Mohammed Sheikh,Joseph Sklenar,Daniel Gardeazabal,Justin D. Watts,Alan Albrecht,Andreas Scholl,Karin A. Dahmen,Cristiano Nisoli,Peter Schiffer,Peter Schiffer +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Shakti geometry of artificial spin ice has been studied and it has been shown that its disordered moment configuration is a topological phase described by an emergent dimer-cover model with excitations that can be characterized as topologically charged defects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Avalanche Statistics Identify Intrinsic Stellar Processes near Criticality in KIC 8462852.
TL;DR: A statistical analysis of the more numerous smaller dimming events by using methods found useful for avalanches in ferromagnetism and plastic flow, which suggests that this star KIC8462852 (Tabby's star) may be near a nonequilibrium critical point.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple aging mechanisms in ferroelectric deuterated potassium dihydrogen phosphate
Gregory A. Fields,Samuel F. Cieszynski,Bo Zhao,Kidan A. Tadesse,Mohammed Sheikh,Eugene V. Colla,Michael B. Weissman +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the anomalously large dielectric aging in ferroelectric partially deuterated potassium dihydrogen phosphate is found to have multiple distinct mechanisms, including hydrogen/deuterium diffusion, and a slower component can give an almost complete loss of domain-wall dielectrics response at the aging field after weeks of aging.
