Inductive Teaching and Learning Methods: Definitions, Comparisons, and Research Bases

Aiming at the distributed flexible job shop scheduling problem under dual resource constraints considering the influence of workpiece transportation time between factories and machines, a distributed flexible job shop scheduling problem (DFJSP) model with the optimization goal of minimizing completion time is established, and an improved mayfly algorithm (IMA) is proposed to solve it. Firstly, the mayfly position vector is discrete mapped to make it applicable to the scheduling problem. Secondly, three-layer coding rules of process, worker, and machine is adopted, in which the factory selection is reflected by machine number according to the characteristics of the model, and a hybrid initialization strategy is designed to improve the population quality and diversity. Thirdly, an active time window decoding strategy considering transportation time is designed for the worker–machine idle time window to improve the local optimization performance of the algorithm. In addition, the improved crossover and mutation operators is designed to expand the global search range of the algorithm. Finally, through simulation experiments, the results of various algorithms are compared to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for isomorphism and isomerism factories instances.

An Improved Mayfly Method to Solve Distributed Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem under Dual Resource Constraints

Background The tet oncogene family member 2 (TET2) gene has been reported to be involved in DNA methylation and epigenetic regulation in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Various studies have proven functional role of TET2 mutations in AML. We herein studied the frequency and genotype-phenotype correlation of TET2 gene in AML patients in Sindh, Pakistan. Patients and methods The current study was carried out at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Pakistan, in collaboration with National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow Transplant, Karachi, Pakistan, during the period from June 2019 to June 2020. A total of 130 patients diagnosed with AML were screened for TET2 mutations. Whole exome sequencing of 14 individuals was carried out to find the genetic variants in TET2 gene. The pathogenicity of the variants was predicted by SIFT, PolyPhen2, Mutation Taster and CADD Phred scores. The allele frequency of the variants was compared with global population using 1000 genomes project and Exome Aggregation Consortium (ExAC). Furthermore, exon 3 and exon 5 of the TET2 gene were sequenced by using Sanger sequencing. The findings were correlated with subtypes of AML and corresponding karyotypes. Results Through the exome sequencing, 17 genetic variants (13 SNPs and four indels) were identified in 14 individuals. Of these, four variants that is, one frameshift deletion, one frameshift insertion and two nonsense variants were novel and not present in dbSNP151 database. Three novel variants were found in exon 3 including two frameshift variants that is, p.T395fs and G494fs, predicted as deleterious by CADD Phred scores, and one stop-gain variant (p.G898X) predicted as deleterious by Mutation Taster and CADD Phred scores. One novel non sense variant (p.Q1191X) was found in the exon 5 predicted as deleterious by SIFT, Mutation Taster and CADD Phred scores. Sanger sequencing analysis revealed one novel deletion at g105233851: del.TAGATAGA, and one novel SNP g;105233861 T>G identified in the TET2 gene. Majority of the exon 3 mutations were seen in the patients diagnosed with AML with maturation, and had a normal karyotype. Conclusion TET2 mutations were identified in around 16% of the total patients of our study indicating other mechanisms being involved in pathophysiology of AML in this cohort. The TET2 mutations provide a prognostic value in determining AML classification.

TET2 mutations in acute myeloid leukemia: a comprehensive study in patients of Sindh, Pakistan.

Plexippus paykulli (Savigny et Audouin, 1827) is a jumping spider that has great potential to suppress insect pests of agricultural crops. In the present study effects of Thiodan (insecticide) on the survival, locomotion, insecticide avoidance behaviour and predation rate of P. paykulli were investigated. Thiodan caused 40% mortality at the recommended field rate concentration (5µl of insecticide /400 µl of water). P. paykulli did not avoid the surface treated with the Thiodan (1/4 th of recommended field rate). Calculated LD50 value was 8.23 µl (SE± 2.01). There was also no difference in resting time of Thiodan treated and control spiders. However, predation rate of Thiodan treated spiders was significantly reduced (up to70%) compared to the control spiders. We also observed change in the locomotory pattern and speed of the treated spiders. It is concluded that Thiodan affect locomotory pattern and reduces the predatory performance of studied species, so before recommending this insecticide for the IPM programme in the study area, its affects on the other beneficial organisms should be investigated.

Microscopic morphological characteristics of wound healing will be compared in wounds treated with tears (experimental) and sterile saline (control) groups. Moreover, pain will be assessed and compared in control and experimental animals. Protein analysis will be done in tears and cerebrospinal fluid and comparison will be done between quantities of tears specific protein in tears and cerebrospinal fluid. Tears being antimicrobial, tissue healer and analgesic may have some usefulness and tear shedding may be a useful adaptation in man. Conclusion Basal tears are for lubrication of the eyes, nostril damping and eye protection are acceptable, but shedding emotional tears seems to be a mere wastage of useful proteins, lipids and electrolytes. Moreover, tears contain antimicrobial and tissue healing agents. Therefore, tears shedding may be adapted to heal physical as well as psychological injuries.
