Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of fixatives and tissue processing on the content and integrity of nucleic acids.

TL;DR: The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of the methods of human tissue acquisition, fixation, and preservation and the parameters of procurement and fixation that affect the quality of the tissues at the molecular level are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanisms of NF-κB p65 and strategies for therapeutic manipulation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of NF-κB p65-mediated signaling is presented, followed by a discussion of strategies that directly target NF-Kb p65 in the context of chronic inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of the molecular quality of human tissues: an experience from the Cooperative Human Tissue Network.

TL;DR: The usability of nucleic acids extracted from banked human tissues for further molecular analyses was determined and gel electrophoresis was as informative as PCR, RT-PCR, and Northern blot analysis in determining the molecular usefulness of the human tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Significance of NF-κB as a pivotal therapeutic target in the neurodegenerative pathologies of Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis

TL;DR: The interplay between neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration is discussed keeping in focus NF-κB signaling as the point of convergence of multiple pathways associated with the development of the Neurodegenerative pathologies, AD and MS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Soluble forms of Toll‐like receptor 4 are present in human saliva and modulate tumour necrosis factor‐α secretion by macrophage‐like cells

TL;DR: The sTLR‐4 levels were elevated significantly in oral lichen planus (OLP), a chronic inflammatory condition of the oral mucosa characterized by clinical persistence, and the epithelial cells in the saliva of OLP subjects expressed significantly reduced TLR‐2 and TLR-4 mRNA that correlated with fewer bacteria/salivary epithelial Cells.
