Comparison of the electronic structure of anatase and rutile TiO2 single-crystal surfaces using resonant photoemission and x-ray absorption spectroscopy
Andrew G. Thomas,Wendy R. Flavell,A. K. Mallick,A. R. Kumarasinghe,D. Tsoutsou,N. Khan,C. Chatwin,Stephen Rayner,G. C. Smith,R. L. Stockbauer,S. Warren,T. K. Johal,S. Patel,D. M. P. Holland,A. Taleb,F. Wiame +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, a comparison of the electronic structure of rutile (110), anatase (101), and anatase(001) single-crystal surfaces has been made using resonant photoemission and x-ray absorption spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resonance photoemission of LaCoO3(111) and La0.9Sr0.1CoO3(111)
Andrew G. Thomas,Wendy R. Flavell,P. M. Dunwoody,C E J Mitchell,C E J Mitchell,S. Warren,S. C. Grice,P G D Marr,D. E. Jewitt,N. Khan,Vin Dhanak,D. Teehan,E. A. Seddon,Kichizo Asai,Yoshihiko Koboyashi,Nobuyoshi Yamada +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the temperature-and doping-dependent spin states in single crystal LaCoO3(111) and La09Sr01CoO2(111), and found that the spectrum of LaCo3( 111) is invariant with temperature, with no delayed resonance effect, and that the contribution due to the low spin (LS) state lies around 1 ǫ to lower binding energy than that due to higher spin states.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic Structure and Reactivity of TM-Doped La1-xSrxCoO3 (TM=Ni, Fe) Heterogeneous Catalysts
S. C. Grice,Wendy R. Flavell,Andrew G. Thomas,S. Warren,P G D Marr,D. E. Jewitt,N. Khan,P. M. Dunwoody,S. A. Jones +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the surface reactivity of the ceramic catalysts in aqueous solution is explored, using H2O as a probe molecule, and XANES measurements are complemented by XPS measurements of surface composition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic structure and reactivity of TM-doped La1-xSrxCoO3 (TM=Ni,Fe) catalysts
S. C. Grice,Wendy R. Flavell,Andrew G. Thomas,S. Warren,P G D Marr,D. E. Jewitt,N. Khan,P. M. Dunwoody,S. A. Jones +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the surface reactivity of the ceramic catalysts in aqueous solution is explored as a function of doping with both Sr substitution for La and Fe and Ni substitution for Co. The influence of these factors on the rate of the unwanted hydrogen peroxide decomposition reaction and hence on activity in epoxidation is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Orientation of o-nitrophenol adsorbed on LaCoO3(111)
Andrew G. Thomas,J. Hollingworth,Z. Hashim,N. Khan,Wendy R. Flavell,M. D. Roper,Fred Hancock +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a near edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) study of o -nitrophenol and also of adsorption on single-crystal LaCoO 3 (111) was performed.
