Journal ArticleDOI
Second cancers following radiation treatment for cervical cancer. An international collaboration among cancer registries
Jr Jd Boice,Nicholas Day,Aage Andersen,L. A. Brinton,R. Brown,N. W. Choi,EA Clarke,Michel P Coleman,Rochelle E. Curtis,John T. Flannery +9 more
TL;DR: Women who were under 30 or over 50 years of age when irradiated were at greatest absolute risk for developing a second cancer, and the RR was higher among those under age 30 years at exposure than among older women.
Journal ArticleDOI
Second malignancies following testicular cancer, ovarian cancer and Hodgkin's disease: an international collaborative study among cancer registries.
John M. Kaldor,Nicholas Day,Pierre R. Band,N. W. Choi,EA Clarke,Michel P Coleman,Matti Hakama,Maria Koch,Frøydis Langmark,Frank Neal,Folke Pettersson,Vera Pompe-Kirn,P. Prior,Hans H. Storm +13 more
TL;DR: It appeared that there are clear excess risks for cancers other than acute leukaemia which must be ascribed to therapy for the first cancer, especially in view of the possible under‐reporting in registry material.
Journal Article
Radiation dose and leukemia risk in patients treated for cancer of the cervix.
John D. Boice,Maria Blettner,Ruth A. Kleinerman,Marilyn Stovall,William C. Moloney,G Engholm,D F Austin,Antonio Bosch,D. L. Cookfair,E T Krementz,H B Latourette,L J Peters,M D Schulz,M Lundell,F Pettersson,Hans H. Storm,C. M. J. Bell,Michel P Coleman,P Fraser,Michael Palmer,P. Prior,N. W. Pejovic,Kristjan Sigurdsson,Paola Pisani,H Kucera,George B. Hutchison +37 more
TL;DR: The model proposed in this study of risk proportional to mass exposed and of risk to an individual given by the sum of incremental risks to anatomic sites appears to be applicable to a wide range of dose distributions.
Journal ArticleDOI
A study of diet and breast cancer.
Anthony B. Miller,Anthea Kelly,N. W. Choi,V. Matthews,R. W. Morgan,Louis Munan,J. D. Burch,J. Feather,Geoffrey R. Howe,Meera Jain +9 more
TL;DR: Evidence of an association between an increased intake of nutrients, especially total fat, in both pre- menopausal and post-menopausal women with breast cancer and its consistency with other evidence, both experimental and international, suggests that it is causal.
Journal ArticleDOI
An epidemiologic study of breast cancer
N. W. Choi,Geoffrey R. Howe,Anthony B. Miller,V. Matthews,R. W. Morgan,Louis Munan,J. D. Burch,J. Feather,Meera Jain,Anthea Kelly +9 more
TL;DR: A case-control study in four areas of Canada is suggestive of an increased risk of breast cancer in post-menopausal women with younger age at menarche and an increase risk with delay of age at natural menopause, and a weak association with increased height and weight as risk factors for breast cancer.
